Because everyone on this board is so much smarter then all the city planners and architects that we need a place to talk about how wrong they are/how right we are. That and people seem to pick the worst possible rendering of all the ones released and act like its the end of the world. In the night time renderings you can clearly see the first 1-2 stories is retail with a 2 story tall glass curtain wall. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go complain about some stroads.I like both of our new residential towers and am having a hard time figuring out the angst towards them. I thought most of us were waiting for these kind of developments? It appears to me that these are upscale, unique to our downtown, and will be attractive buildings that should age well.

"Insane"? That's a tad extreme! I'm sorry, I guess? I don't like looking at parking ramps and would rather see any kind of fascade than looking at a concrete ramp. Maybe I'm insane....Really? I think that is an insane statement. These are non-final images, and the final ones look a little nicer above the first level.I'd prefer a faux historical fascade to a bare ramp, or even a ramp that looks imprisoned (like this one)!

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Yes - that was a bit strong, but faux historical details are my least favorite thing to see on a building. Shielding a ramp is good, but making it look like something it's not would be unfortunate.

With all this talk about the street level, I thought I'd re-post the first floor plan. This was from the Magellan proposal. I don't know if it's been changed.

Is anybody else sort of skeeved by an indoor dog run? Even the small outdoor ones (like at Skyscape) get so pee and feces ridden my dog won't go near it (and she's usually super-into disgusting stuff). Do any other buildings in town have an indoor dog park? Doesn't this one look way too small?
Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I'm not convinced all of those pictures are Minneapolis, or MN even...

Its cool that they are having an indoor fire pit.
Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
It looks like maybe 5th st towers in the background of ONE of them maybe? Otherwise, yes, generica usa. One of the photos looks like it might be grant park in chicago?

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Here are some photos from Friday - sorry for the tiny images - for some reason we are now being limited to images that are less than 500 pixels wide - are we in a time warp - is this 1998 internet?
Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
This might be to save band width and issues down the road.

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Since I'm hosting the images on my site the bandwidth is on my side not urban mpls
Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
It's not a bandwidth issue, it's a display issue.

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
What's the display issue exactly?
Seems odd the text can be displayed so wide and images can't - especially when they used to display larger.

I know we are beyond this phase, but I built a 376' mock up of whatever this building will be called and placed it in google earth. Here are some pics.
Looking north on 35W. Tower is on the left.
Looking east on 394. Tower is on the right.
@ the 394/94 split... heading east. Tower is on the right.
A few shots of Loring Park, the tower, and Downtown.
Loring Park in the background... Downtown would be behind you...
