The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
To name a few downtown, Cowboy Jacks, Crave, and Union all have good rooftop patios. Those three are pretty recent I think.
Walkway should be anchored by 2 very large restaraunts. Not sure how much patio space they will have.

Sounds like the roof is the only place left to go.... ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

What? There is a ton of space on the ground floor for the restaurants.

The initial renderings had a huge outdoor space for the restaurants, tucked into the building. Essentially porches.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.

I think it's just hard to follow what you're talking about sometimes.

Windows are in on the retail portion on Lagoon. Not sure how long they've been there. Just noticed them today.

I really like the way this one looms above the street. Once the vacant lot across the street is filled in Hennepin and Lake is going to have legitimately urban streetscape.

I was in Uptown on both Friday and Saturday nights and was struck by how urban this felt. Lake and Lagoon used to feel much wider than they probably were due to the parking lots that extended on either side. It's going to feel very cool when these finish up and get stuff in the ground level. Side note, I think vehicles will travel slower with the more elevated street envelope. When traveling east on Lake, I've noticed over the last 5-10 times I've driven it how car traffic went from 25 mph to 30-35 once you get past Lyndale and buildings get shorter.

Windows on Lagoon have been in few about 2-3 weeks. Been slowly getting filled in!

I just walked by a few days ago, the top overhangs on Lagoon look pretty good.

I really like this project and it's making this area more urban and dense feeling as people have said. However, I wish the retail component was not so focused on creating more new mega bar/restaurant spaces. Uptown has too many of these already. What would be great is to see some retail that anchor the corners similar to what was mentioned on the vacant historic theaters' thread.

There's still lots of room for that between the Calhoun Square empty lot, the Arby's and Rainbow's sites, the Planned Parenthood lot, and eventually/hopefully the McDonald's site. The more people and activity that get brought into the area, the easier it will be for "normal" retail in these redevelopments, which are feeling inevitable at this point. I know you know this, but I still felt the need to say it.

Would have been a good location for a new urban Best Buy or Target in the area. If it was a BB it would have been rather humorous being on the same block as the previous BB.I really like this project and it's making this area more urban and dense feeling as people have said. I am curious if a CityTarget would do well here.

I've wondered for a while when we'd get a non-downtown CityTarget. Uptown is far enough from the downtown location, Lake/Minnehaha, and SLP Targets. It's highly walkable with a booming population of residents with cash to spend in addition to people from the area coming in frequently to shop. I think it would be pretty cool to see one go in.

Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
I would *love* to see an urban CityTarget in Uptown. It is the type of store sorely needed in the area. We have enough bars, restaurants and trendy clothiers. Give me a store to go buy daily needs.
Well, I confess I'd prefer something other than a Target to satisfy that need but realistically, Target is the least bad option.
