Now, what I would absolutely love to see is validation that small businesses can survive in this building. Duffy's Pizza would be a great start. Does anyone want to start a business with me and take up shop in one of the spaces?

Maybe we can start an UrbanMSP lobbying corporation, with our offices in our first success.

The full council going against a committee vote is almost unheard of. Either Hofstede is REALLY unpopular or Opus has some deep pockets (a third fringe theory holds that common sense is prevalent on the council).

Either way, great news. August 2nd shall henceforth be known as Urban Planning Day in Minneapolis!

I find it interesting that 3 of the 4 members that were not in approval of the development were on the Zoning board.

How old is Hofstede that she still calls the newspaper The Star?

Well, the makeup of that board should be changing in a meaningful way in a few months.

Sadly, losing Schiff.

We really need to get Tuthill out of there. She would be Chair of Z&P if she wanted it...that would be bad for the entire city.

Hopefully the two replacements will be Lisa Bender and Andrew Johnson. They both have the urbanist chops for it.

Awesome news for the city. Lets get going on this one.

According to the StarTribune. "Opus hopes to begin construction in August, with possible completion in August 2014." http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/218106821.html
