https://www.facebook.com/events/420630014709812/These days, you can just about pick any streetcorner in Minneapolis, throw a rock, and hit a Mayoral Forum. There are forums on beer, on placemaking, on architecture, on housing… (and those are just the ones that vaguely interest me).
But that’s not stopping Streets.mn from helping to organize a forum of its own.
In two weeks, on Tuesday October 15th at 7:00 pm, we’re joining with the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition, our friends at UrbanMSP, and a few University of Minnesota groups (including the Interdisciplinary Transportation Student Organization and the Minnesota Urban Studies Students Association) to host a forum of our own. And this time, it’ll be focused (like the radar gun of a cop perched at the speed trap on the Hennepin Avenue Bridge) on one issue: the Future of Transportation. [CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC, VISUAL EFFECTS].

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
I'm really looking forward to this. I haven't attended a mayoral forum since like April or May, way before the citywide DFL convention. I already know who I'm voting for #1, but this should help firm up my #2 and #3 choices.

Can we declare a twitter hashtag before this event starts?

I think #transforum would be easily misinterpreted as something drastically different...
Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
Heh, I read one of those as #wheremytracksat
#transitforum or #transpoforum would be safer. #mplstranspo? Hmm...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
On a more serious note, we (yes, WE, the transpo nerds who will be attending) need to ask very specific questions. This forum absolutely cannot turn into streetcar vs. bus generalities. Actually, it would be nice to outright forbid that question since we already know where the candidates stand on that vague question. We already know they all support greater investments in transit and it's the way of the future, blah blah blah. Heard it all before. We need to be extremely specific, and ask them tough questions that really put them on the spot and see how deep their understanding of transportation issues goes.

Bill Lindeke added a post to Streets.mn to gather questions too:

Bicycle Coalition posted who would be there, missing some big names:
Dan Cohen, Bob Fine, Betsy Hodges, Cam Winton, and Stephanie Woodruff.

Yeah, we were a bit late on the bandwagon and Andrew had a conflict.

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
Just to clarify, FISHMANPET's list is of the candidates who will be at the forum. Mark Andrew, Don Samuels, and Jackie Cherryhomes will not be there.
What I'm dying to know is if Bob "Transit Revolution" Carney will be there...

Anyone want to do HH before? Republic at Seven Corners? 5:30?

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
I'll be getting on the last northbound 113 bus after I get home from work. I could be to Republic around 5:50 depending on traffic.
Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
I have another person joining us too, so lets plan on it.
Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Forum on the Future of Transportatio
Rumor has it that all the kids these days are going with the hashtags "#mplsmayor" and "#transportationforum".
