Also, the homemade photo shoot for the page is hilarious... Note the wine stained bottle they pulled from the recycling.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
I wonder how much rent they're asking with this project? With all these expensive amenities, it must be higher than $2.00 per square foot which seems to be the going rate for these upscale rental projects. Still amazes me there are so many people who can afford these places.Looks like one of the restaurants is entirely private. Odd. I assume it will be a partnership with another restaurant in the building or have limited hours, otherwise that is one expensive amenity for the building.

OMG I just realized I've been pronouncing this project wrong from the beginning. I've been calling it the Walkaway.

More of the vertical blue panels going up on the east, (Back side), of the building. Will be a good contrast to the orangish fake wood panels on the front side. Will make quite a contrast when coming from the east vs coming from the west.

The expanded sidewalk along here is going to go a long way to enhance the pedestrian experience in uptown. That said, there is no way I would ever live in the building. Hopefully this invested in some good soundproofing and blinds!

Sidewalks slowly going in on Lagoon. Wood panels should be finished by next week and they are coming along nicely on the east side as well. We will hope by the first week of November that we have a majority of the siding done and the sidewalks all poured before the real cold comes.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
Noticed today several pallets of Kasota Stone blocks on the Giard side of the building. Not sure if they are for facing the first level or if they are to create patio spaces between the building and the street. Also noticed some other pallets of grey small block and some possible yellow smallish brick or Kasota stone for facing the building. I like the circular window in one of the store fronts. Helps with the buildings character.
The east and west sides of the building look like they each belong on a different building than the same building. The east side will be quite blue! Also 2 huge steel beams are now protruding above the Lake Street sidewalk.

Today when I was walking around I realized how all the surface parking kind of made excuses for the other lots. Now that this is nearing completion, it really alienates the McD's, Calhoun Sq, and Cheapo lots. They look super out of place now.

(Those retail spaces look really sharp, as if they would hold high end type shops.)

Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
IS it just me or are the pics not opening for others either?
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
Worked fine for me, all three.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
What's weird to me is despite the building boom in Uptown, there are still so many vacant or underutilized parcels. I agree the Walkway makes the ones around it even more terrible and glaring. That vacant lot next to Calhoun Square annoys me the most. I can hardly believe the owners of Calhoun Square haven't been able to come up with a viable development proposal for this land. It's such prime property and has become even more so with Walkway across the street.Today when I was walking around I realized how all the surface parking kind of made excuses for the other lots. Now that this is nearing completion, it really alienates the McD's, Calhoun Sq, and Cheapo lots. They look super out of place now.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
Be nice if they at least landscape it and make it a nice place to eat a bag lunch or take out.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
You don't like all the pictures of the pretty young people on the fence there? It makes it feel so hip and alive! As opposed to, you know, REAL people being hip and alive.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
What would it take to turn that into a little park? $10k? That would be awesome.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
The east side of the building is looking very blue! Things are moving along.
Re: The Walkway - (1312 West Lake Street)
There is a lot of blue and greys on the east side of the building. I did notice today that they are putting up some tan panels that will match the center section of the east side. I like seeing the variety of colors and textures that they are using.
I noticed that they have the base layer of Kasota Stone on the Lagoon side of the retail section and were starting to lay some on the Hennepin Ave side as well. On Girard near Hennepin they have two of there flower boxes installed with the massive block of Kasota Stone around then. These are the buffer to the street I believe.

Wish you had taken a pic of the east side. That looks so different from the west side of the building. But I'm glad that others can see what I can only describe. Thanks again.
