Darn right. Running over a multiway boulevard.
Re: AtWater Building - Duluth
yes. that would be awesome. actually. like Portland, or an inclinator like in Bergen! quaint hilly cities have a lot to gain from elevating people in creative ways.

Re: AtWater Building - Duluth
Apparently this broke ground? The block wide big box for the first floor/parking is unfortunate. So nice to see development in Duluth though!

I'm up in Duluth till Sunday, you can see this site from my hotel window. It's all excavated and looks li ke they're starting foundation work. I'll try and upload some pictures when I get a chance. It sure is awesome to see a crane in the Duluth skyline though!

So unfortunately this was the only picture I was able to get. Its crummy but at least you get an idea for the size of the crane! Signs around the site say "11 stories arriving 2016"

maurices project - downtown Duluth by twincitizen, on Flickr
I took that on Friday.
Also, I found this presser that gives some details not reflected in this thread. At the bottom of the release are two links to renderings: http://pressroom.maurices.com/pressrele ... -design-2/

Re: Maurices HQ Building - Duluth
There seems to be a lot of construction going on in Duluth right now actually. By the way, Duluth Skyway Staircase of the year has to go to the staircase next to the Wells Fargo building that connects to the skyway crossing 35W, just a rickety scaffold stair case. Because it was Saturday, the only other egress from the Skyway was closed, forcing my party to take the worlds scariest staircase meant for regular people.

Anybody find a webcam for this one yet?

Re: Maurices HQ Building - Duluth
I tried looking for one and couldn't find it. I apologize for not snapping a few pics of this over the weekend. It seems like they haven't made much progress on the eastern side since twincitizen's August pics.
I rarely pay attention to outstate stuff, but might a little more now. I'm disappointed so much public money is being thrown at a 500 space ramp ($40k per space!!). They say in the presser this building (and I assume parking) will be a catalyst for this edge of town. I hope they remove or greatly reduce parking minimums in other new development to maximize potential...

There hasn't been a ton of parking development on this end of downtown. Hopefully with this and the transit center it'll fulfill the demand for the west end of downtown.I tried looking for one and couldn't find it. I dont have access to the full article but it has a photo showing the progress on this building on the 3rd floor now.
Oh and this was the other article they had about Maurices, it looks like the same crane in this photo so I am pretty sure the photo in the first link is indeed Maurices:

Re: Maurices HQ Building - Duluth
I had a chance to snap a picture of the construction site today. It can't be seen from the picture, but they are beginning to install steel girders for the upper floors.

Re: Maurices HQ Building - Duluth
Another update on construction. I believe the vertical girders on the right show the final five floors of the building, the only higher point will be the elevator and HVAC equipment.

Re: Maurices HQ Building - Duluth
Another update from Grandmas weekend. Glass is going in on the front and sides. Top steel framed levels are beginning to be wrapped in a cloth like drape; perhaps for protecting newly installed glass? Merely a guess. Last level is still being framed, but it looks like we're nearing the top of the structure.

Re: Maurices HQ Building - Duluth
The base of the sides is a granite or some other shiny stone, the main facade on the lower and parking levels is brick.
