The design of the buildng wasn't right for an implosion. there was no solid roof to help pull the debris inward. Or at least I recall reading that somewhere.

I heard on fox9 news tonight they might implode at least part of the metrdome after all. I assume its due to the partial collapse from earlier this week. They said it could be as early as this Sunday morning. I don't have an article or video to post at this time so its a wait and see i guess.

If you stop to think about how a tension ring beam works, I guess I'm not surprised that they'd be having problems taking it down in sections.

Why is it so difficult for us to teardown our old stadiums?

They're going to be bringing down the remaining portion of the ring beam on Sunday:
As you may be aware, a portion of the Metrodome ring beam fell unexpectedly on Monday of this week. The remaining ring beam has been determined to be unstable and needs to be brought down. Mortensen, the contractor in charge of the Metrodome project, has advised that due to safety concerns, they will use explosives to bring down the remaining portion. This work is scheduled for Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 7:30am.

It seems the charges took a little more than just the remaining ring beam. Do you suppose the corner portions that came down were planned?

I noticed the other day waiting at downtown east station that they had removed some material from the lower levels of both of the corners facing that side, making it so you could see directly into the stadium from ground level (I didn't check out the side facing 35W). From the webcam it looks like the areas where material had been removed were the same areas that collapsed during the explosion. So, I'd guess it was intentional.

Is it a third? There were two full ones up yesterday already. They are moving fast!

No, it is only the second. I missed the start of the process. Now looking back, I see they started putting it up on Saturday. It looks like there are still sections of it sitting on the ground, which made me think it was still being put up.

Both tower cranes have sections sitting next to them. I guess they figure it's easier to store the embiggening parts on-site for these particular cranes.

@AjKFAN at Twitter has posted images of the stadium model. Here are two:
