The "Pillsbury's Best Flour" sign is going to be rehabbed using neon-simulating LEDs:

That is such a cool project.

This is probably my favorite project right now. They have most of the exterior rehab finished on the 2nd St SE side (at least the brick work) and are installing windows.

With Mill & Main Phase II coming along I can already imagine how different this area is going to be in a year.

As much as I know we need affordable units, it kills me that these will be section 42. I would LOVE to live here, but wouldn't qualify.

F&C has a Flickr photo album up of things from inside the building:

Looks like it was attached to this (paywalled) article, which is a bit more about affordable housing in general:

Woah. No parapet. I suppose it will look much like the repairs that were done to Westminster on Nicollet a few years back. If only they'd saved some nice weathered stone from St Andrew's on 8th.

Does this development include all 3 buildings? (The "A" building, the silos and head house, and the one in the middle) I had thought it was just the "A" building on the left, but I see work being done on all three.

Yes, it's the entire complex that's bring worked on, but I don't really know what the plan is for the grain elevators n the back.

The developers/owners could always commission artwork to cover the silos. Image
This was done in Omaha a few years ago (although the panels are coming down soon).

I think it would be kind of cool to see MINNEAPOLIS, in the "ghost sign" style, painted down the side.

The parapet is being rebuilt. The block will be covered up with the stone they removed.

Looks like the developer is trying to produce hydroelectricity.

Awesome. Good to see the upper falls being used for power again.

So wait. Are these going to be sectioned? Because "Affordable Artist Lofts" sounds a hell of a lot like they're trying to get college students or others into the building

if you look up their website it will tell you the stipulations. I highly doubt students would qualify. a certain percentage of your income usually has to come from your art.

Full time students for sure will not qualify as it's against the rules. These will be section 42 and a lot of time the "artist" status can be overlooked (EDIT: It looks like for this case you must demonstrate that you are an artist in some form). There are some "artist lofts" on University in St. Paul, which are also owned by Dominium, that you do not HAVE to be an artist to live in.
