The 3rd tower crane was mostly assembled this morning (all except for the "arm") when I went by this morning.

I can't wait until all the cranes are up for the Ryan buildings as well. There might be seven up at once! It'll be like some kind of weird forest.

I did a quick search and didnt find anything, so I'm sorry if this topic has been discussed and I missed it, but has there been any movement to nickname the Stadium Valhalla? I think this would be brilliant and pay homage to the mascot, because when Vikings died in battle, they went to Valhalla. Only the best warriors were allowed to enter.
Might not be the best thing to imply that the Vikings are dead on their feet.

I like the idea of Valhalla as the nickname… but economic reality might suggest that we should call it IKEA...

Read the book 'Frindle' with our kids this year, and it is pretty much a guidebook for how the Multipurpose Stadium might acquire a better name. And a good book, no less.

Asgard is much more appropriate than Valhalla.

Asgard (Old Norse Ásgarðr, “Enclosure of the Aesir) is one of the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology and the home and fortress of the Aesir, one of the two tribes of gods

Or we could refer to it as the longhouse as it does resemble one on a much much more massive scale.

It's also the name of a hotel in Thunder Bay.

All three were complete and swinging this evening.

The Vikings are putting an additional $1.2 million into the stadium to increase the size of the west video board to 120x68 (was 85x50) and to add video walls for club lounges, according to Tim Nelson of MPR via Twitter.

In an effort to compete with television, Vikings spend $1.2 on more television.

I am sure they will spin this as a way to enhance the fan experience. But in reality, this is all about advertising revenue with more space for ads.

$1.2M to take the screen from 4250 square feet to 8160 square feet sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

and what is the comparison shopping you've done to draw this conclusion? $300 per square foot is a number that has no meaningful comparison i think.

The video board upgrade is actually less than $600k. Most of the $1.2 million goes for video walls in “premium spaces.”

Sid says that the "a number of people in the Twin Cities business community" will be surprised if US Bank isn't soon announced for the naming rights.
