"City" "Place" - Woodbury
Not a lot of details here - but i am curious what grocery they're talking to. There's really only one question - would it be a Lund's or a Byerlys. First look: How new owner would revamp Woodbury office park (slideshow) http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... ge_gallery
Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
Looks like they're maintaining most (but not all) of the State Farm office building?

Yet no Radio Drive Station for Gateway BRT. Time to reevaluate? I don't see how a Woodbury Drive (CR-19) Station provides more value, when the Manning Ave Station (terminus) is there to catch all commuters from east Woodbury, Lake Elmo, and rural areas further east.
I'm surprised they aren't contemplating any residential here. Certainly there is demand for newer/nicer apartments in this employment-rich, freeway-access-rich area.
EDIT: Sorry for going O/T, the lack of a Radio Drive Station just frustrates me. Gateway Corridor topic here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=483

Much agreed on the lack of a Radio Dr. BRT station. This campus borders Woodbury Lakes too to the East. That large grassy area could be some serious housing.

Whole Foods is looking for more places to expand and they did just open a Maple Grove storeNot a lot of details here - but i am curious what grocery they're talking to. Our throw away culture for buildings and real estate. This isn't even two decades old. And its only value:
Alexander said it's almost unheard-of to find 100 acres of mostly undeveloped land on a freeway in the metro area. "It is unique," he said.

If it ends up looking anything like the slideshow in the OP its just another travesty imo.Our throw away culture for buildings and real estate. This isn't even two decades old. And its only value:

Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
I'm guessing they also see value in the existing building: "The companies plan to remodel the existing 400,000-square-foot office building."

Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
Details. Now with "Name Change", maybe this thread can get a rename?

It's a hell of a lot of parking. Shameful?

"City Place". I don't think they know the meaning of either of those words.

Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
I mean, what's the point of having a language if this is what we're going to do with it??“The name City Place articulates our original vision of bringing an urban development to this prime suburban location, providing complementary uses to the existing office building while preserving the places to work focus of the site,” Juan DeAngulo, managing principal with Elion Partners, said in a press release.

Maybe, "Post-Urban Renewal City Place". Evoking the legacy of the downtown sea of parking effect.
It's retro that way.

Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
It'll fit perfectly with the rest of Woodbury. Endless cul-de-sacs and parking lots named Pristine Wetland and Creek-upon-Avon. Why on earth would they start reigning in the ridiculous naming now?

Suburban place naming can achieve what suburban land use cannot: The best of the height of active, dense urbanity and quiet, pristine ruralness combined into one.

Who cares about Woodbury. It's a lost cause forget about it.
Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
Woodbury is a suburb. What do you expect them to build with any new commercial development. A great majority of people in the suburbs have cars. We need the parking lots to park our cars into. Our options are pretty nill for getting around. We don't have transit options on every corner like they do in Minneapolis. Sorry about the rant.

Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site
I feel like there's a way to build in a car dominated suburban environment that caters to the car, but at the same time isn't so incredibly hostile to anybody not in a car, and this certainly isn't it.
