Yikes.
Is it really Yikes-worthy? I'd love to see more shots that show how it interacts with the street level, if at all, but I'm not hating what I see so far.

EDIT: Ah, I see there are more renders in the link. I'm not a fan of the exterior at all... Looks like we put wrapping paper over the old stadium and called it new.

The aerial view in the article gives me a little more hope than the street level render... It's definitely not worse than what's there now.

The addition clearly looks tacked-on and the fake-looking wood paneling is just terrible. I don't understand the mix of materials here at all. Using wood makes it look like a huge wall to me, even more than it is now. A huge wall in a '60's-era wood paneled den.

I'm holding out hope that it's actually supposed to show textured metal paneling with a rust color.

Did these guys actually get paid to produce this? Wow, this looks worse than if they were to just leave it alone. The colors alone bug me, but the mix of materials and the hideous box really top off this...ick. The addition looks sooooo out of place.

Too many straight lines. It wouldn't kill them to add some curves or arches.

Okay, yeah, I'm hating it the more I look at it. Hoping it improves over time.

The important question is "what is going to happen to Sid's statue"?

We could melt it down and splash cans of the molten metal on the exterior. It would look better than these renderings and perform a public service at the same time.

It sure doesn't look like that to me. Hopefully this is a case where the real thing looks better than the rendering.

The other thing that bugs me is that the admittedly cool and glassy entrance contrasts horribly with the straight-laced geometric design of the rest of the building. I know we can't punch windows in the thing but could we at least make the exterior shape a little less boring?

EDIT: I'd like to see the view from Target Field.

WTF!!!!!! Some one needs to be fired!! Let's see them spend a few M more and make a more coherent design. That the city or Glen Taylor would approve of this design. Ask for a very large refund on that pile of **** design.

What do you expect for $97 Million?

This project is incredibly underfunded and short sided. Most new arenas are approaching the $500 million to $1 billion mark yet we somehow think $97 million is enough to get us another 20+ years? Very disappointing, but not much more should have been expected.

I think it looks really cool and will be a very nice complement to Target Field and Mayo Clinic Square.
But it's pretty clear I'm in the minority on this site...

I like the increased glass, the new texture of the metal panels, and the darker look. I think it's a HUGE improvement over the current concrete look. And it's not like they have a ton of money to redo this building with... I'm surprised to see the corner glass piece still a part of the redo!

I understand that it is not the most attractive but at least the entrance has been moved to the corner. I feel as though the problem with the target center was an outdated interior, even more so than the exterior. So even if it looks a little crappy on the outside, I think the inside will be done well. At least I hope..lol

I hope those horrible circles are covered up. To me the exterior is more important especially when viewed from Target Field.
