Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
I must have missed the email re: moving from Minnescraper. I was just wondering why I never receive updates anymore...Does the Mill City Times reporter still post here? Maybe under a different name?
So, I'm back on the best urban planning /development news site in Minneapolis!
Are all of the old posts gone?

for all I know, the Minnescraper site is still up, you just can't post, but it might be gone now...I must have missed the email re: moving from Minnescraper. I was just wondering why I never receive updates anymore...Does the Mill City Times reporter still post here? Maybe under a different name?

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
Glad to have another from Minnescraper find their way over! The Minnescrapper frontpage is still up, and for a time you could still access the forums via a cached version though Google.for all I know, the Minnescraper site is still up, you just can't post, but it might be gone now...I must have missed the email re: moving from Minnescraper. 'DaPerpKazoo' Archived it as well (discussion here:https://forum.streets.mn/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=285).
So maybe we'll have access to them again eventually, but for now I don't know of any online version of them.

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
That's the latest...they want it to coincide with the anniversary of their founding. It will be a nice amenity for both residents and visitors of the neighborhood. No ice cream until then?Opening is slated for the July/August time frame...You'll have to wait until next spring!

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
Using the logic that was batted around when this project was first proposed one would think the condo owners across the street wold be outrage to wait until June or July!! Outrageous!

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
When the project was first proposed it was for a production facility only. Hardly an amenity for residents and visitors.Using the logic that was batted around when this project was first proposed one would think the condo owners across the street wold be outrage to wait until June or July!! Outrageous!
Based on citizen input during the approval process they added an Ice Cream Parlor to the project, at which time the neighborhood, not just "the condo owners across the street" supported the project when presented at the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association board meeting on March 13, 2012. Another significant announcement shared at that meeting was the addition of outdoor seating, including benches and 4 tables.
Here's the supporting article from March of this year:

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
Time will tell if having your business plan amended by the neighborhood group is successful.
Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
There is no reasonable argument for putting this here without the parlor aspect.
Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
I'm no ice cream production/spatial reasoning expert, but this building seems incredibly small for any sort of factory/ice cream parlor.

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
Yeah, but their current site isn't very big either. Their current "factory" is half of the building on the right (with the solar panels) and the building to the left of that (to the tar line) is the retail space. Only around 6000 square feet if it's all on ground level (though I think they must have some basement space too). The new parcel appears to be around 9200 square feet, though I'm sure they'll reserve some of that space for delivery trucks.

Re: Izzy's Ice Cream Factory
I agree. I don't know enough to state with any modicum of certainty that the building is too small, but the foundation--in person and in these pictures--is surprisingly narrow in width and depth.I'm no ice cream production/spatial reasoning expert, but this building seems incredibly small for any sort of factory/ice cream parlor.
