2015 Stanley Cup Finals :D
Lol no
dont doubt it. Xcel is a woerful venue and they're getting a gigantic new video board, size of Pepsi center.
Um, the Wild have to get to the Finals before they'll be played at Xcel. This isn't a bidding process like the Super Bowl.
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.

Why did I forget that... I'm a huge hockey fan and for some reason I forgot.

Mark my words. The Wild will make it to the semi-finals or beyond next year, I'm not going to turn this into a sports debate but just wait.

If any major Minnesota team wins a championship within the next five years it's going to be the Wild.

8,813 people at tonight game. The Twolves nearly double that and they haven't even made the playoffs the past few years

I would argue that's due to cultural mindsets, of which I am also guilty, that lead people to think it's ok for women to like men's sports it's not as acceptable for men to like women's sports. I consider the Lynx to be major, and I would caution folks to be careful when saying they are not. It may not be the message one wants to give to the women of the world.
All this aside, I think it would be awesome to have a WNBA or MNBA all-star game, final-four etc. :-)

Delta's SKY magazine did a profile on MN in the most recent issue. I thought it was a fun read.

Back to the issue of compost. Citywide compost is a fantastic idea. Think back to the 3 R's of conservation: reduce, reuse, recycle. Burning organic material in the HERC is a low order recycle of waste. It is must better to reduce the waste that must be burned by diverting it into compost ( a sort of reuse/recycle). Additionally, enough waste is compostable that there is no reason trash needs to be picked up every week. This starts to reduce (from 3, after adding compost trucks) the number of heavy vehicles on city roads.
I think FISHMANPET roughly outlined the system that I think is best from an urban ecology/systems perspective. Each neighborhood has a industrial level compost facility (so bones and soiled paper can be composted) that either operates anaerobically to create methane for energy production or aerobically to create good compost for a neighborhood greenhouse or gardens.

An article in the Charlotte Observer summarizes the trip their officials took to Minneapolis and their findings.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/0 ... 6jCfrGzKhM

From the article:

"Looking at beautiful old buildings sprinkled throughout Minneapolis’ downtown, it seemed a shame that the Queen City hasn’t preserved more of its architectural past. Many of the Twin Cities’ older buildings had street-level retail stores in them, giving a random walk a sense of the kind of urban adventure you’d get in cities such as New York or San Francisco."

“Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.”

Charlotte demolished nearly every house and most businesses in their center city, so compared to them, MSP is a dream.

Sometimes people in Minneapolis forget that there are cities besides New York, San Francisco and Seattle so they have an excessively negative view of life and urbanism here. We tend to do well compared to most other mid sized American cities.

The Twin Cities lead the nation in green construction.
