No I really just didn't know. I shouldn't have said anything but I thought I saw construction on this site last year. I shouldn't have said anything but now it makes me more curious on why Wendys is closing

Anyone know what's going on in the parking lot on 26th and Franklin (next to Articulture, across from Zipp's)? I don't remember seeing anything here, but there's fencing up and some heavy machinery.
Re: Southside - General Topics
The Seward Co-op has a long term lease (with option to buy, I believe) on the former Franklin Co-op Creamery building at 26th & Franklin and will be using it as their centralized office and food production space for their 2 locations (once the 2nd one on 38th Street is completed and open). It is undergoing a lot of internal renovation. Their plans include having a cafe in the front of the building. The current construction is to build an elevator, accessible entry ramp, and internal stairwell. The small addition won't eat up the entire parking lot, but will remove several of the spots closest to the street.Anyone know what's going on in the parking lot on 26th and Franklin (next to Articulture, across from Zipp's)? I'm looking forward to the street-facing cafe and the foot traffic it would bring to the corner.

It's about time. The current Walgreens is pretty run down. I'm glad to see the design is neutral rather than one of their awful faux village designs with the goofy parapets.

I'm not excited about the drive-thru pharmacy aspect of the Walgreens plan :/

Walgreens has been working on some more "urban" designs for their stores that are in the city, they just did one in Milwaukee

Gosh now can we get a new one at 44th and Chicago?
I think a big test of how urban a Walgreens can be in a "residential area node" will be 54th/Lyndale.

FWIW, they're reusing the old Borton Volvo building for that particular Walgreens. I was fully expecting to see the entire site leveled and a new structure go up, but they're not doing that.Gosh now can we get a new one at 44th and Chicago?

The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.

What's going on on Xerxes south of the creek? Crews are installing some sort of islands on each block. They are sloped to make a ramp that faces the direction of traffic and each island is just a few inches from the curb. They are not at corners so they aren't bump-outs. They're not at bus stops so they're not transit platforms. The gap between the curb and the islands is too narrow for a bike so they're not some sort of protected bikeway.
What gives?

The county is milling and overlay ing from the creek to 66th after centerpoints gas work. Sounds like a ped bulb with drainage? I know pedestrian and greening improvement s have been talked about for the corridor.

Ooooh, you mean these: http://edinamn.gov/edinafiles/files/Adv ... mpouts.pdf
They were temporarily installed with bollards over the past season. Its a traffic calming measure (sort of making parking bays) that will eventually be greened I think. Stops the idiots from Edina from driving on the shoulder

I really don't see the point at all. To me these aren't bumpouts because they do nothing at all to help pedestrians or transit users.

Stone Pillars
Anyone know anything about new pillars going up in South Mpls? They'e poured concrete 10' tall with piping for eventual lighting. I saw one at 62 & Lyndale getting covered in stacked limestone. There are two more on 50th at each end of the bridge crossing over 35W.

Well, here we go:

They are peculiar at 50th and Minnehaha, since the only traffic there is neighborhood, not traffic entering from the highway.
