I'd rather have a Duluth Pack store, but I think the Uptown market for outdoor gear seems pretty cornered, what with a Columbia, North Face, and Arc'teryx right there.I was just up in Duluth recently. If we were to bring in one more outdoor store, I'd want it to be Duluth Trading Company! Man, their shirts are awesome.

Re: Calhoun Square
I'm fine with not duplicating Duluth Pack, Fitgers, etc., in Minneapolis.
Re: Calhoun Square
Seems there's a new tenant moving in...Peoples Organic signed a lease according to an Ackerberg release. Opening in January.

Re: Calhoun Square
There's a store in Duluth. You are right that brick & mortar is new for them. It just seems like a good fit to have a local-ish outfitter-ish company in Uptown, what with the lakes, Wirth, Loppet, biking, hiking, etc. all nearby.I think Duluth Trading Co. only recently started opening brick and mortar stores. They used to be a catalog. Or something. Pretty sure there's not even a store in Duluth.
There is a newer store in Richfield (?) just off 35W.

Re: Calhoun Square
Ha. Posted that two posts up. The Biz Journal just hadn't put up an article yet.
It does look like a pretty good catch though.
Re: Calhoun Square
People's Organic has great coffee and food. Nice it will be located near the intersection to add some bustle.
Re: Calhoun Square
Can anyone confirm the rumor that LA Fitness has closed in Calhoun Square.
Re: Calhoun Square
I quit going there because it was always too crowded. The location is still on their website. Can anyone confirm the rumor that LA Fitness has closed in Calhoun Square.
Re: Calhoun Square
Call them. They are open until 11pm. 612-392-0395
Re: Calhoun Square
They are always extremely busy, I can't imagine them closing.
Re: Calhoun Square
Made 3 attempts to call and it rang 4 times and then clicked and went silent. Had a friend that went to join and he said that it was closed. Will be downtown today so I'll not be able to check it out. But Ackerberg maybe is trying to use the space for something else. I have no idea.

Re: Calhoun Square
Seems like if it were the case, people would be mentioning on Twitter. Nothing: https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q ... s&src=typd
Re: Calhoun Square
^Can't confirm a close/open, but I was in Uptown on Saturday and walked into Calhoun Square to warm up a bit. Definitely saw people who had clearly just worked out walking around the lower floor of the building.

It's the only consortium that seems to accomplish anything.

Re: Calhoun Square
Two tidbits from the new issue of the Uptown Neighborhood News: Ackerberg is in negotiations to lease the former Figlio space. Also, it mentioned they plan to build a hotel on the empty lot in front of the parking ramp, but didn't provide any details.
Re: Calhoun Square
Finally some movement on this. With all the residential progress this area has made there sure doesn't seem like much in the way of commercial. Now with Mozaic II being downsized it is bewildering there isn't more of a demand for office and commercial. Glad to hear about the hotel and the location of it.
