Also, the next step in this is so obvious: We need Grant to become a double agent.

He's still in contact with these people. They know he is still open to believing June's story. Who here can talk to him and get him to flip??

There are sooo many people named Rick Christenson/-sen / Christianson/-sen. I did some searching on the "retiredbanker" username and found that it gets used all over the place -- some guy in Ohio, a woman in Wisconsin, some woman in the UK, a man in Florida, another in Louisiana...

Can I lean in the direction that a hoaxster got some pictures of Rick Christenson of Wells and just decided to keep using that guy's name while creating this character?

Serious question: If I (or someone else) were to call that number on White Pages, what should I say? Yesterday Nick and I thought of something along the lines like:

"Hi I'm a former business parter of Rick's, and I heard he's in the hospital and not doing too well. Just wanted to give my regards." and go from there.

We could also call the church and do a similar rigamarole...

(I'm going crazy.)

Somebody help Nick.

I'm leaning towards just approving, and I would probably volunteer to let him know if he gets out of hand. Or maybe we could ask David Greene to tell him.

I say approve it, unless it's awful. I feel like we can pretty well deal with people being stupid, it's just when they become inflamatory or trolly it becomes an actual bannable problem. I'm not toooo worried about what SSC says, but I don't really want the story to become "I tried to join and meanie Nick wouldn't let me!"

I managed to resist ever reading SSC or really getting involved in any of this consortium stuff, but good god these last few days have been entertaining to watch.

Can I just say that this rabbit hole, and the meta forum chatter, seems very tired at this point.

I'm nervous that Grant is publicly expressing skepticism. Keeping him connected to the consortium seems like our best bet of getting real information.

Despite the first (now deleted?) post being something like "woo! I joined", I'll lean in the direction of letting munchymunch/Munch'n post and shed more light.

The following is not part of the fake person conspiracy stuff, but an observation on the whole urbanmsp/SSC "divide" thing, if it's even a thing.

I feel like go4guy was actually responsible for a bunch of the division. Nasa was banned from here long before any of the whole us vs. them silliness, though he has certainly fanned the flames over on SSC recently. When Nick "disrespected" retiredbanker with skepticism, he "left" urbanmsp relatively quietly. Some weeks or months later, min-chi-cbus started promising a "report" of sorts from retiredbanker, and was the first person to say that rb would no longer post here. Once that happened, this is when some animosity towards the leadership here started to bubble up, but it seems like go4guy was a prime instigator in that. He somehow avoided a ban, although there were a few people that did get banned as a result of that whole "controversy", because they just couldn't handle their beloved retiredbanker being "forced out".

None of that is a direct indictment of go4guy, and to his credit he has never been that terrible, and never actually completely stopped posting here either, even after creating his own forum "tcyimby", which was a huge flop (though he did get Texas_RE to post there!)

Hmm...that actually gives me an idea - since Texas_RE registered on his TCYIMBY site, wouldn't he have access to some information (IP address, location, etc.)?

^Good thinking, Matt. Someone who's not a mod should PM him and ask him to dig a bit! He hasn't really been too involved in this though, so not sure how receptive he'd be.

Any idea who go4guy is? Name? I know he works at WFHM here in the same building as me, but no idea who he is.
