Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I count 40 floors in the color render on Hennepin. This one has grown on me also for sure. The street life will really add to that area.
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
It will be interesting to see how the base of the building develops. I've long thought this would be one of two great spots for a school, so if they are considering one for this space then maybe they can convince this one to instead open in a more central location: http://www.journalmpls.com/news-feed/ch ... n-downtown
Kare11 moving downtown was a great idea too and I hope it can happen as well, but I don't think there would be enough space here to do both.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I like this proposal...but the charter school seems like an odd use for space here to me. I mean, I guess there is a school on Henn and 10th, and I guess be adjacent to the library is good...so I suppose it makes sense? I really wish a developer would have incorporated a top notch planetarium here...but I know that ship sailed a while ago. Could have been a good draw. None of the proposals have anything that is a huge out of the ordinary draw really...perhaps the plaza will be active and have a landmark sculpture or something...I hope.
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
So let's get to the important stuff, roughly how many feet tall will this be?
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
The base of the project should really have a strong retail focus to draw people to Nicollet Mall. I love the lighting scheme for the towers as proposed. It's my favorite proposal ( after Duval's ). Doesn't have to be mega tall, but It should be at least 40 stories to give the north end of Nicollet Mall a respectable place marker in the skyline.
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I can't see anywhere that it's been reported other than how many floors. I'm guessing between 450 feet and 500 at this point. Could still change though, as others have mentioned. So let's get to the important stuff, roughly how many feet tall will this be?

^^ LOVE!!!!
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Wow damn, I didn't think they'd cover the whole thing in LED's.
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I figured those verticle things were leds as soon as they mentioned it. Amazing.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I suspected that's what those vertical attachments were for in the daytime render. That will look pretty wild alright.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Shouldn't save that render until so late. [nit]Not sure the moon is ever in the sky there. But I get the gist.[/nit]
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I like the LED! I kind of hope this touches 400 feet, and with it being so slim, it should have a presence. Plaza looks good too. It would be awesome if one of those rooftop terraces was a restaurant open to the public, but I highly doubt that will be the case.
Also, not sure why this is such a pet peeve....but it is renderING! lol. Render is a verb. I see so many people call drawings "render" here and elsewhere. That is all, carry on.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
The hotel won't be a full-on Hilton but a new "Canopy" brand focused on Millenials:

This sounds like their version of the AC Marriott being built down the street.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Also, I wonder if this is really 39 floors? All the renderINGS we have seen have shown 36 floors of residential/hotel, and a 3 floor base. Maybe they mean the tower part alone is 36? Otherwise their renderings are confusing. I mean, I know they are preliminary.
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I counted just now and got 40 with the base, maybe they are considering pushing it up to that next level. I mean, what's 4 more floors? ha
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I still only get 39, plus roof terrace (so I guess 40?). But yeah, the number hasn't changed from the initial drawings released...they have always shown more than 36, so who knows?!?
We won't until the official plans are released I guess:( With all those lovely details we like so well.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
It's probably safe to assume that this new building will be around 375 ft tall. That is the height of the LPM tower and it has the same number of floors.
Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
If it winds up being 36 floors, I agree with you. But the renderings all show 39-40, which would put it at 410-440 ft, in my estimation.
