District 600 - 600 5th Street North
Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
It appears that they have gotten back to digging out the basement levels on the 5th street portion of the building. Maybe they will have that basement portion of the building completed by winter. Still can't tell if they have more repair work to do on the south wall of the Fulton before they start on the stick portion of the south end of the D 600 building.

Coming down the viaduct they are cladding the completed portion of the building in a nice blue and metal facade.
Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
Have they actually gotten started building the second phase, or are the still trying to stabilize the FULTON FOUNDATION?Coming down the viaduct they are cladding the completed portion of the building in a nice blue and metal facade.

Soon you won't really be able to see the garbage burner from the viaduct. kinda crazy!

That blue will be an inviting color for that area of mostly earth tones.

Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
This project just has to be way over budget at this point...I'm sure they expected to have been collecting rent for 6 months at this point. Even assuming insurance covered all the damages they caused to both Weather-Rite and Fulton's buildings, the delays alone must be costing them a fortune. I'm a little surprised the local media hasn't written much about the considerable delays here.

On the bright side far less north loop apartments will be coming on the line and there will be a lot of new jobs within blocks shortly after they open.

Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
Looking at their website, this appears to be a pretty barebones project with fairly basic amenities besides an awesome rooftop deck (from which to inhale garbage air). I suspect the rents will be set accordingly. It's also a smaller project (<80 units) so shouldn't take terribly long to lease up. With their opening date now coinciding with the start of baseball season, they'll have ample opportunities for promotion.

"Opening March 2015" (but likely not...the website hasn't been updated in a while)
The original target was September, so they're 6 months behind at a minimum.

Oh man, checkout the closet space in the L1 floorplan. That would NEVER work.

Looks fine to me? Other than that there's not a lot of it, but most of them are like that.
Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
I think this was intended to try to hit a lower price point than most of the rest of what's being built. Deliberately smaller units, fewer amenities, etc. I think they referenced at some point that they wanted to make it affordable to somebody tending bar or waiting tables. Of course, depending on where they're working, those people may be earning a lot more than me.
Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
On John and my tour of town today we saw that the 600 is still pouring concrete for their underground parking. So they still have along ways to go on this project to even get past the street level.

They have almost finished work in the giant hole next to Fulton.

Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
This has been the saddest construction project ever. I feel bad everyone involved: the developer, the neighbors, those of us waiting anxiously for it to get done.
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.
Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
This thing has looked practically the same since summer because of the neighboring building's collapse. Also, it looks unsteady, thoughts on that?

You mean it looks like it's leaning to the right a bit? It's Minneapolis' own Leaning Tower of Pisa -- we're just not giving the developer their due credit for their out-of-the-box architectural design!

Re: District 600 - (600 Fifth Street North)
Approaching like 8 months of no noticeable progress above ground, aside from partially, barely cladding the exterior. How can they possibly still be working on the foundation?
