Dinkytown Hotel - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
just noticed the other day that the house is gone

I can't say a lot, because I frankly don't know much, but I think we're going to be seeing significant movement on this site soon. Think tall and without the nasty mess of telling Mesa Pizza that they can't stay in their kitschy spot. Not that it will quell the outcries of Save Dinkytown.

Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
The project was mentioned in the Jacob Frey interview in the MSP Biz Journal last week, so it is apparently still alive and completely supported by Frey. As long as it spares 1319 4th St, it sounds like anything else is fair game. Given that the site has access via the alley next to 1319, and now off 5th Ave where the house was removed, I *really* hope they do take out the stupid bank building and its additional curb cut in the middle of the block. The bank building was approved for demolition by the City Council last year, along with the house. Only 1319 4th was denied a demolition permit.
Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
^From what I've can say (and I would say more except I only got passing info and glance at stuff), it looks like the bank building might still be around. From what I understand, the parking is the only "loss". That leads me to believe that maybe the entrance will be over where they demolished the house, facing the Chateau.
Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
Really? I had expected them to gut the older buildings and just keep the facade; building on the parking in back without actually modifying the area facing 4th Ave seems... worst of both worlds, really.
Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
^I don't know if they'll buy out some of the businesses in the front, but it seemed like both Mesa and Tony's Diner were staying as-is. Maybe US Bank stays or gets gutted and used? That I was unclear about. One thing I didn't see in the front? Curb cuts.

Still alive for sure. They're going to change the designs up a lot though.

I thought this project was dead?

There was a "For Sale by Doran Properties" sign above the entrance to the parking lot between Publika and Dinkytown Tattoo yesterday

Yeah it looks like the city wanted to change too much. Frey was showing me their new design plans that they were supposed to release this summer. But it looked like an alien spaceship from a cartoon. It would've preserved the streetscape that's currently there though.

Re: Dinkytown Hotel - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
Anyone able to share images (even older ones) of what this supposed taller (17-18 stories was mentioned at one point) "middle of the block" hotel concept looked like? I don't believe a single image of it has ever been shared online, neither here or on the handful of MNDaily articles, etc.
Re: Dinkytown Hotel - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
I saw some renders a while back when chatting with Frey. I thought it kind of looked like a shorter LPM (the tower, not the base) surrounded largely by the old buildings. Not sure what iteration it was at that point.
