Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
Did you guys not read my long ass post? Downtown East will probably cease to be a thing pretty soon. No one other than city staff, developers, and armchair urbanists has ever used or heard of that term anyways.
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
Yeah, agreed that Downtown East is a pretty worthless and confusing name. It's especially bad now, because it's the only station name that has Downtown in it.
Mill District is probably more helpful, especially for visitors, but then Elliot Park would feel slighted.
Would "Chicago Ave / USbank Stadium" be a better option? More consistent with how other stations are named?

I usually ignore you, twincitizen.
But, in serious news, props to Didier for adjusting the thread name to include "MSFA blo." It seems to be sticking.

I accept credit for this change I didn't make!
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
I think that the new construction, new neighborhoods and expanding downtown really does suggest that we need to change these names. There are so many distinct neighborhoods - who would have ever thought that anyone would want to live along Washington Ave based on how it looked back in the 80's and 90's... They are now different places and need to better reflect how those places are perceived.
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
You know now that I think of it, saying Downtown East and Downtown West might be a good idea for visitors to remember those are the last stations in downtown Minneapolis where they can transfer to the other color line. Beyond that not much point. but Technically we are talking about Downtown North East, and Downtown North West.Oh my! LOL
I'm just venting actually. I will still ride the train downtown, even if it does stay "Downtown East - US Bank Stadium".
I always took Downtown East to mean a geographic area, not necessarily meaning the neighborhood. I'm not sure that it's helpful going forward - especially now that there is so much more that defines the area as opposed to just being Downtown East.
Just my two cents.

The big crane has come down and is in the process of being disassembled.
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
What happened to the previous thread dedicated to the US Bank Stadium?
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
It's here, apparently still on time-out after another bout of bad behavior.

A serious question from a newer member. It's here, apparently still on time-out after another bout of bad behavior.
Has the Viking Stadium page really been "timed-out"? If so, by whom and for what reason? (Does anyone know?)
There is a lot going on with the construction there and it would be nice to see some pics and conversation.
[Also, I don't know why it says "E-Block" or "City Center" in by signature block field]
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
I think it's a reasonable question.
It was locked down because we got into another slap fight about the financing, even though there's another thread in Anything Goes to discuss the financing of it. The moderators hit pause on the thread to allow people to cool down.
I'm assuming that it's still on lock-down mostly because the mods forgot about it. I agree that it's long past time to open it up again, as it is the biggest active construction project in the state.
[Regarding the "City Center" in your signature, it's a carry-over from previous iterations of the forum and indicates how many posts you've made.]

Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
This is new, right? The Vikings have also considered building a Vikings ship on the plaza to serve as a photo and meeting spot for fans. However, those plans are still preliminary.
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
I think there have been a few hints and glimpses of the Viking ship in some renderings and site plans, but this is probably the first concrete mention of it. As long as it's not super cheesy like the Tampa Bay pirate ship, I'm fine with it.

They're working with two concepts right now-
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: USBank Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA blo
This is also new, correct?
I'm assuming the Strib is confused and this isn't referring to the parking ramp block but the blocks between Chicago and 11th with the LRT running through them. If so it's a good sign that we're hearing about them already.Vikings owners Leonard, Mark and Zygi Wilf also own nearly two acres of undeveloped land across 4th Street S. Initial plans included a mixed-use project on this site, but it could be incorporated to the overall plaza design.

4th Street S. runs along the north side of the new stadium. Strib didn't get that wrong. The MSFA ramp is across Chicago, and not part of the land the Wilfs have owned for a long while. This is also new, correct?

It's going to be a 8-12 story apartment or office building on a parking ramp designed by ESG. Calling it now.
