If your passport is expired and you never find yourself in St. Paul, The Villager is now distributed in Longellow. I read it at the Riverview Cafe (across from Riverview Theater) not too long ago.

I get it delivered to my door in East Nokomis. There was a bit about studying a better connection to Shepard Road at 35E. I'll summarize this evening if I can look at my phone for a few minutes on Valentine's Day.
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Sorry I was bad to assume it was online. But thanks for the heads up on where in MPLS you can pick up a Villager. When I'm at coffee at Cahoots, which will be directly across Selby from the Vintage I always pick up a Villager.

They claim they can't figure out how to monetize it online. Possibly they are also using a 28.8 modem and looking forward to the final episode of Seinfeld.
Fortunately Bill Lindeke mostly saves them the trouble.

Re: Uptown Retail News
You gotta at least read the last few posts in a thread like this before posting news like that.
Anondson posted the news on the 19th, and we've been talking about it ever since.

Re: Uptown Retail News
Are you posting this because you think it is new news?
This has been discussed in THIS thread for about the last week. In fact it is on THE SAME PAGE of this thread even. Sometimes this forum makes me weep for the future.
Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
These are the numbers i've heard for floor count. 50, 35,28,27,25,24. These numbers include the ramp which is 6 or 7. I'm hoping for 24 or 35 or 50 to break up the height similarities of the surrounding new projects.. Stadium and Wells Fargo towers. My once strong feeling that something big would go here is now all but gone. I'm hoping for something in the 18-24 story range to break-up the height similarities some.

WOAH! Those are some interesting additions for St Paul. I wonder how many could possibly move forward?
I think the best of the 3 would be the plan for the Macy's block.
MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I love St. Paul showing some desire it's definitely the first step in bettering the city and it's architecture. Some really good concepts there, and shows that they do understand where some of their problem areas are.
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
I agree with the Macey's being the most exciting, although the hotel on 7th across from the X would fill a nice void. And Nathan, I'd choose choose St. Paul's architecture over Minneapolis any day.

New Grand Ave apartment building to be discussed at the Planning Commission meeting on the 4th of April.
http://www.stpaul.gov/DocumentCenter/View/71947#14-095-630 West Grand Avenue Apartments – Lot coverage variance for a proposed
apartment building: 35% maximum coverage permitted; 53% proposed. 2138 Grand
Avenue. (Tom Beach, 651/266-9086)
#13-243-494 Grand West Apartments – Site plan review for a new 14 unit apartment
building. 2138 Grand Avenue. (Tom Beach, 651/266-9086)
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Is that really two different apartments? They have the same address. Even though one calls it "West Grand Avenue Apartments" and the other calls it "Grand West Apartments" I would guess that these two items are both related to the same apartment.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Just edited it to say one building after I noticed they had the same address. Sorry about the confusion.
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
The hotel and Macy's site look great, but I'm very much not sold on the riverfront concept. The tower is shiny and new and exciting and utterly at odds with everything else in the city in a bad way. And the cliff-hugging portion is the glass version of a big blank wall along a sidewalk. Our geology is beautiful, why hide even more of it?
Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
I spoke with Sue at Subtext last week. It sounds like they are hoping to "bleed" into that space, mostly for used books and maybe some other type of "creative" venture. That space was just fixed up recently for no particular tenant, but presumably so it could be marketed for rent.

Coleman wants parking meters in commercial nodes. Cue neighborhood freakout with all the expected cries of "nobody will shop here anymore!", "people will just go to Rosedale instead", "people are just going to park in front of my house instead", and "what about poor people?! Won't somebody please think of the poor people?!".
