I saw some foundation walls in yesterday on my bike ride along the greenway. Will be interested to see how this project changes the area. I did notice that they have cleared most of the brush from the park area north of Lake street. Is the park Board going to spend some money and make that an area you want to relax in as well.

I think that was cleared when they were doing all of the utility work last year...and also I think they did a Buckthorn removal last year too.

That makes sense with the Buckthorn. I remember them removing a bunch of it around Calhoun a few years ago and the Isle too.
I remember the stuff that got cut for the water pipes, but removing the buckthorn would explain the whole srape away that they did. They only left a few mature trees and a few bushes that were kind of close together and make sense because of where they were.

Road by on the greenway and looks like the foundation walls are about 70% finished at this point.

The layout is a head-scratcher.....I would have thought the development would be situated in such a way that it would minimize sight line impacts to its neighbor to the West. But instead, the tallest and widest side of the development is up against the side closest to Calhoun Beach Club, potentially blocking many residents' views and creating new enemies in the process.

Had they flipped the wide side and short side around and put the taller portion towards the back of the lot (north end), it would have minimized any blocked views. I don't get why it is what it is.

Go to Google maps and you will see how Lake street does not run parallel to the green way, but curves SW. Making the widest part of the 2626 lot the closest to the Beach Club, To minimize the shadowing of the greenway they chose to make the shape of the tower a V shape. This allows only a small portion of the building to possibly shadow the greenway. The tower had to hug Lake St to avoid creating a shadow on the greenway. The current design minimizes the amount of tower that is close to the greenway. The tower pulls away from the greenway, due to the V shape. The current design allows the most apartment with the least intrusion of greenway shadowing. Hope that help explains it better.

So in a nut shell, the farther north you went with the tower, the more shadow would be on the greenway and that is a No No!!

Walking by today it looks like they have the basement sub level and the 1st floor poured, with columns and bracing beams ready for pouring on the lake end of the building.

Will this site have direct access to the Greenway?

I find it hard to believe that they will not have some sort of gateway that is large enough for bikes and peds so that people can get to and from the apartments. Would most likely be lined up with the stub street.

They are now starting support columns for level 5 which will be the 1st floor of the V shaped tower portion. There is also exterior walls starting to show up on the 1st and 2nd levels of this building.

This is moving fast. Up to level 7 and it's making a presence. Can really see it across the lake.

Here is that Greystar that United is pairing with for the Nicollet block. They should be topping off the last floor just after the first of the new year.
