Just put the poor thing out of its misery.

If you were around to watch how much grief it took to move the thing two and a half blocks, you'll know the idea of moving it to the suburbs is a complete non-starter.

Wonder what will become of that transit hub that they have moved once to make room for the Cowles Theater? Where can we move it to now that it can truly be a functional shelter? The corner it was on I don't think it ever got used much at all.
I never noticed that thing until I started working downtown. What a weird "station."

The process to sell this block is moving forward:

Am I reading this right? The North Nicollet plan listed Hotel, Office, retail etc... but not residential? Is that just a Small Area Plan parcel objective or does it reflect a change to what the developers are proposing for the lot?

United taps Greystar to develop residential & hotel portion: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... ollet.html

We'll likely hear updated unit counts and the hotel flag in the coming months.

Greystar is no stranger to developing properties with 300+ units.

Thank god. This boosts my confidence a bit on this project.

Well what irked me a bit was the quote of "30+-story, mixed-use project" from the article. I thought it was supposedly 40+ floors now. Otherwise, I'm happy to see this move forward, and I hope it brings big things for Nicollet Mall.

That's been used by Bizjournals since the beginning of this project I think. Been debatable on this forum for a while.

Great news, this is my favorite part.
Greystar describes itself as the largest operator of apartments in the United States, managing about 385,000 units in over 100 markets. It also has more than $1.5 billion in development projects underway.

I only saw 3 real towers on their page, 2 with interesting looks, one of which has a huge parking podium, the 3rd tower is a massive block thing hmm. I'm sure something good will come here though if it's following the footsteps of the proposal. Can't wait to find out more. I'm ready for the mall to be complete on the north end.

So is this Greystar the same one that did the Elan's and have thier name up by the one they are building next to the Calhoun Beach Club. Also with Greystar does that mean that the condos for this tower are now all apartments?

I've seen Greystar in bizjournals recently selling off some capital in the suburbs. Over $100 million so far.
