The medium-cursed Ling & Louie's/Randle's/Rojo space is getting a new tenant next month, according to Axios, with a rooftop patio on the roof (obviously), a lounge on the mezzanine, a Joey Meatballs on the ground floor, and a dance floor in the basement. Should be pretty cool.

This is good, bringing life to empty storefronts on Nicollet is needed!

Does anyone know what 12 new business are set to open up according to this story? Or the 24 that recently reopened?

On a side note downtown was incredibly busy during the lunch hour today, and could definitely support more re-openinngs.

Don't know, but this little section of that article is GOLD.

"Forty years ago, Janice Devine and Peter Ruggles used to eat, sleep and breathe downtown Minneapolis.

After they moved, they noticed differences over time.

“To not have the Dayton’s, to not have some of that retail, I could see that as a difference,” Devine said."

When Angle Bakery moved the owners of Hells Kitchen said they had different plans for the space, now we know what those plans are.

I suspect you are being deliberately obtuse.

Almost a year to the day that covid unexpectedly closed everything down, we finally have a fun announcement about Angel Food’s future!

But first, with the continuing blows about offices & business not coming back any time soon, I have exhausted all my options for the business surviving in the downtown area. I adore Minneapolis and cannot wait to see it shine again, but, unfortunately, after just shy of 9 years it is time for us to say goodbye to downtown.

(I was just trying to make an offhand joke on what I presumed was you making a joke about there being no mention of 'Angle Food Bakery', while 'Angel Food Bakery was obviously named prominently in the article...)

I discovered a new mens store in the North Loop called Jaxon Gray last weekend. They have very fun, contemporary clothing geared more to younger guys, I think. It is owned by the son of Len Drusken who formerly owned mens boutiques around the metro for 20 years. Apparently, Jaxon Gray will be moving out of their current location to the former Mind Your Melon store, which has a larger footprint. Things have been so depressing for the downtown reatil scene recently, so I was thrilled to discover it. Cool store. https://jaxongrey.com

I can't find it now but previously dug into it and believe it's connected to the owner of the the Blarney and Pog Mahone's.

That's correct - the name was filed to the Secretary of State by Michael Mulrooney, who owns those two businesses.

As a downtown resident this makes me furious.
