The ballroom at the Ballantine VFW has been cheap in the past.

Hey everyone,
Lately my friends and I have been climbing at Vertical Endeavors in Minneapolis and have been looking for quick places to eat beforehand. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am not super familiar with the area but would prefer something within walking distance to this intersection.

^ Yes, without a doubt, Lu's is the best quick restaurant on Eat Street. In and out in a few minutes for a few bucks.

Jasmine Deli also has tasty Bahn Mi -- a different style than Lu's, but still very good.

Pho 79 is great and quick.

Krungthep is the best Thai in town, I think, but more of a sit down place.

Krungthep is the sister restaurant to Bangkok Thai Deli in Frogtown.

My fav Banh Mi is at Saigon at the Dale Green Line stop.

Maude doesn't have a party room but we can usually close off the back section and work something out.

Mor Moua at 'Chi Tailors' on Lyndale. She does everything for me.

Or 'NE Tailor' on 22nd & Johnson St NE.

I've heard good things about Cedarvale Tailors (I know their website looks sketchy as hell), and their prices are supposed to be pretty reasonable. Jackets are just about the hardest thing to alter, though, so depending on what you're looking to have done it still might not be cheap.

If you're looking for something a little closer to home, I've never had a problem with Stephen Dean in Kenwood. Then again, my tailoring needs aren't very extensive.

Altug at NE Tailor was my go to guy, but he's just too busy. If I wanted something done I'd have to call him a day or so before picking it up to make sure it was done, he'd never meet a date he told you (but if you had a deadline he'd meet it, you might just need to remind him). He'd also frequently do stuff for free since I was always so patient with him. It's a shame, as he's a really good tailor, I just need something more reliable.

On one hand I feel bad taking my business elsewhere, but all told I may have been more trouble than I was worth with the amount of stuff he gave me for free.

I have had the same exact experiences with NE Tailor! He is so friendly, but totally overwhelmed and is completely unorganized. I just don't think I can do it anymore. So much free work, but it's never done on time, even when I call earlier that same day and he assured me it was ready. Friendly chap tugs at the heart strings, but... I need to make a clean break.

I think he might have a couple of shirts that I forgot about and got lost in his shuffle.

He should really hire an assistant, even if they only do the basic stuff like hems, since that's what most people are getting.

Take your simple stuff to the dry cleaner so I can get my suits tailored!

I got one of those deep discount suits at Saks off Fifth downtown before they closed. I took it to Suburban Tailor on Hopkins main street and they are fantastic. Of course, I was having the entire suit tailored, so it cost me about 120 bucks, but now I look fantastic for my job interviews
