Building's totally gone and there's a Doran trailer on the site. Did they ever actually get approval to build something here??

That looks pretty cool to me, though the dusk/nighttime renderings always tend to look a bit nicer. The Magic-Pak holes seem to have an inner glow that clearly won't be present in reality.

Anyway, the variety of different surface materials makes me think of the UTEC project. At least this one has the different materials organized in a relatively cohesive way -- the UTEC replacement seemed to be changing the facade almost at random. However, this one doesn't have balconies sticking out, which probably makes it seem a bit less noisy.

This project spells it premier, the other three Doran projects spell it premiere...maybe they'll have some shoppes to make up for it?

Maybe the refrigerators will come pre-stocked with Olde Style?

I don't know what to think about this. There are a couple larger apartment complexes in this area now that don't fit the area at all. At least that dorm going up down the street is shorter on the University Avenue side to better fit in with the frat houses.

I can't for the life of me remember if this was ever actually officially approved (they had that dust up with CPED over parking requirements?) but it appears to have a foundation in, so it must've been.

Ooooo la la! They should just keep that greenish siding instead of laying pre-fab brick over it (half joking).

The more I drive by this, the more it becomes one of my least favorite projects in a while. It is just so out of character with everything around it.

True, but how long until it is the norm? With the way these things are going up in the area, soon it will fit right in.

He's creating jobs for all Minnesotans, guys. I really like being able to see the blue sky through that awning thinger on the top corner, I hope that hole stays open.

Most of the work, like those near Uptown is electrical, plumbing and sheet rocking on the inside. They will save the exterior until the building can dry out a bit from the snow and rain.
