I still wear a lot of American Eagle stuff (mostly jeans) and I attend the U. There are so many people on campus, you're bound to see a bit of everything.

If we were going by what a ton of college students wear, then it could be a The North Face and/or Ugg store. Or a store that sells sweatpants en masse lol.

Going purely by what my students wear to class, it would seem most students just wear U-branded sweatpants and t-shirts anyway. ;)

Announced.

What I don't totally understand is that my friend said this wouldn't be announced until this week, but this (poorly circulated) press release is dated to the beginning of July. It's not listed anywhere else that I could find on Google though, so enjoy.

Well that came out of left field.

Do they treat their employees better than the main Goodwill stores do?

I mean, it just sounds like Goodwill branching into the more curated thrift shop realm, and Dinkytown used to have Everyday People, so I guess it could be nice to get a high quality thrift shop back in the area.

I wonder how that fits in with Save Dinkytown's view that only huge mega chains will be in these new spaces.

They'll totally ignore it, just like the Purple Onion and Chilly Billy's.

Gina + Will (the Goodwill opening we were hinted at) opened, StarTribune covers it.

People actually buy 3.2?

I wonder if all of the out-of-town students don't realize it's 3.2?

Of course, if you're buying Miller Lite, there's not much difference between 3.2 and full strength.

And since it's 3.2% by weight, that actually translates to about 4% by volume, which is basically the same as normal Miller Lite.

The history of prohibition is so interesting.

Thank you for pointing this out, people don't seem to get this point. Alcohol is less dense than water and so 3.2 abw is actually not especially lower alcohol than standard beer.

One other minute point though, light beer is lower in calories than regular beer but it isn't necessarily lower in alcohol. Most of it actually is a little lower, but the thing that makes it "light" is calories, not alcohol. Of course alcohol is extremely calorie dense and so it follows that light beer would be lower, but don't assume that.

Vodka and soda = the least unhealthy drink. Throw a lemon in there and you've got vitamins!

P.S. Who even drinks Miller Lite, et al. anymore? Or am I in a good beer echo chamber?

I don't think anybody over the legal drinking age does, no.

Can grocery stores continue to sell alcohol after 10pm? That's really the only reason I can think of for Target Express to use some of their precious shelf space on 3.2 when a full liquor store is half a block away.

True story: A whole keg of Summit EPA is like $25 more than a keg of...what was it called...Dinkytown Delight? Man my memories are scrambled. College was fun.

Why does it taste so different though (which is to say, much worse and definitely seems lighter)?
