This is a lot of fun to watch, not only because of how quickly the parking levels have been coming together, but to see how they move dirt and supplies around the site to make room for everything. I have particularly enjoyed seeing them reposition the dirt for the access ramp in/out of the hole. It's in a different configuration now than it was a few days ago. I can't wait to see how that whole ballet of supplies and machinery plays out as more and more of the lower levels get done.
I agree. Watching this is so much fun. I wish they had put up a WebCam for the project on Lake Street, and also for the Prospect Park one. I think I looked at the WebCam at least six times a day, if not more.

When exactly are they scheduled to be complete with the entire block redevelopment? If I were to hazard a guess, I would say 24 months.

That sounds about right. The Mplsbuild site says Late 2017 for the office and brewtel, and Spring 2018 for the apartment tower. Construction started in April, so right around two years.

This office is being put together in a pretty interesting way.

They're certainly rushing to get the office portion of this block completed asap.

Which makes sense, of course. The longer they're renting space elsewhere, the more this project costs.

Speaking of the office portion, it's remarkable just how little of the site is office and how much is dedicated to other uses. K/A really took a big picture approach to their block and I am just thrilled to see it.

The office portion is above ground level! They've begun erecting steel columns this morning.

Because I'm sure everyone is eager to know, the excavator has left the hole and is taking it's ramp with it. Looks like the Bobcat left in the hole gets to finish the dirt-y (hehe) work.

Doesn't seem that complicated to dig up the ramp as you go, but Mike Mulligan couldn't figure it out:

I've noticed that after the evening of the boards down, they please this green tubing and them. And you know what that is? It almost looks like they put pipes down before they put the concrete down.

It's probably an "active" drain system because the groundwater is so close to the lowest level slab - if the groundwater level rises, it will enter those pipes and get pumped out from under the slab to a holding tank where it can be released over time rather than putting pressure on the slab and causing uplift damage.

Thanks so much for the link. I've always been interested in building construction. I'm not that much of a technical person so the math isn't very interesting to me; I like understanding the concepts though.

Not that we didn't know this was happening, but a nice read nonetheless.
