lake and Nicollet could better support, and be more central, a larger theatre...

there will be plenty of full blocks to develop. I love when cool buildings are kind of a secret and you need to walk around to get the full affect, that's what make fun cities fun.

^^^ Agree, having some nooks in a city's built environment is fun. Mozaic three is oriented towards the Midtown Greenway and to the west the plaza in front of Mozaic two. It is a little hidden from the Hennepin-Lake intersection which has been the traditional focal point of this neighborhood.

I happen to like the fact that the front doors do not face out onto Lagoon. I like that they are making the most use of the Plaza that they have created.

I'd say this is a pretty good sign that things are moving right along.

If I remember correctly, I think this is to start construction in July.

The closing of Abeliene maybe a sign that they knew with construction that their usual parking would go away, and business would drop off more than it already has. They maybe will use the Abeliene as their construction office. They have a tenant who maybe has a lease that will not be up for a bit and they are holding off so that the building is finished closer to when Code42's lease is up. But they have a tenant, and I assume a signed letter of intent or lease, so it will get built. The start date is the only question.

That scared me at first. Usually "revisions" means smaller in Minneapolis. Good to see the project growing!

Can someone with access pleased share the highlights?
Otherwise I'll just wait for the Business Journal to report on it.

I don't like it as much as the previous rendition. It's much more boxy. It's missing the "skateboard ramp" roofline on the Greenway-facing building and the penthouse area is more opaque. It's much less whimsical overall.

I'm really not very excited about this anymore. Not like I used to be.

I wonder what the square footage increase was. I'm seeing the changes, but unless there are some more addition facing the plaza I don't see a large square footage increase. I do see cost saving from taking some of the angled complexity out of the building process. Still the best looking building in Uptown and probably the Twin Cities at the moment. IMO

Thanks for posting the updated rendering John!

I think it works well, and probably achieves more space and light (there are several new window components on the southeast corner) without really changing things too much. I can't tell from the rendering what that roof space along the greenway will be used as, but it looks like outdoor space. If so, I applaud them for that too. I'm guessing that having a tenant lined up helped to push these updates.

Sure, some of the whimsical aspects are muted - but this building will still be incredibly unique. I also think that the upper penthouse area (which it seems has almost doubled) really hasn't changed with regard to opacity. I think that's just the rendering. The updated rendering has a more frosted/reflective look on all the windows, not just the penthouse section.
