Whatever happens with the Solera space, it better do rooftop movies.
Roof top at that location would be a challenge with the advertising sign that is on the roof. I'm sure the sign company has a lucrative air rights lease that would have to be bought out to get rid of the sign. Economically that would kill any roof top project.

Uh, there is a rooftop patio there, that showed movies in summer.

Wedgeguy: what Sean said. The back of that sign is the screen.

Knew that Seven had shown movies on their roof, but thought the sign on Solera's roof impeded a patio up there. Thanks for educating me on that.

Pracna on Main closing, temporarily: http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/ta ... 99441.html

I do occasionally see movies at St. Anthony Main, but I'd probably go more often if you could carry a drink in, as the article suggests they are planning better integration of the restaurant and theater (same property owner).

EDIT: I see this topic has already been covered in the "Northeast General Topics" thread. My mistake. It's that whole NE/SE/#isitdowntown? issue...

We just buy a bottle of wine at Vic's and ask for some cups on the way into the theater. But having a bar there would be handy as well.

Hell's Kitchen turning the back room into the "Minnesota room." Glad they are doing something. It's always a buzzkill to go and have a table in that room. So bland compared to the other rooms.

Dan Kelly's reopened under Republic management: http://mspmag.com/Blogs/Foodie-File/Jan ... lly-s-Pub/

I thought it was going to be called something else, but I guess they changed their minds and stuck with the old one.

The Imperial Room closed. Looks like the whole building is for sale.

Crazy how different (non-existent) the bar scene is on that stretch of 1st Ave. compared to a few years ago.

Awwww.....I kinda liked the Imperial Room, too!

So has downtowns nightlife scene gone downhill since the closing of some of these "troublesome" bars, or has the action just shifted? It's been a good while since I've last been there for nightlife (approx. 5 years).

New brew pub Day Block Brewing-located in the Downtown East neighborhood, has just released a new brunch menu (I've also been there for lunch and dinner and had great experiences). https://www.dayblockbrewing.com/food/brunch

Day Block Brewing is one of my favorite spots. Great Pizza & great beer! Can't wait to try their brunch menu sometime.

I've found Day Block to have decent food, but uniformly sub-par beers.

Yep. A few friends and I go there for trivia occasionally (including tonight, actually), and I now stick to the Frank's Red, which is alright, after a couple experiments I couldn't force myself to drink more than a quarter-pint of.

It's been a while since I've been to Day Block, but I know there was a beer or two that I rather liked.

I realized that after posting. Coastal Italian sounds like good potential though. I could use some of that on a -10 degree day
