Yup. As Grant said... They were tearing up the 4th St remains this morning. Definitely working on it again! I'm excited to see NE change with the additions of this, Nye's and the Alatus tower. I REALLY hope all three are amazing.

Glad to hear I was wrong! Will be nice to see this rising along with the others. Anxious to see an updated version of the US Bank building as well!

I'd say this is a full go. Now there are 3 diggers on site, and trucks flowing in and out with rubble and dirt. It's great to finally see.

I think this could be one of the most impactful projects of this housing boom. It's a great scale, it adds retail and amenities in a way that encourages good future urban development. I'm really excited for north east to become a dense urban village.

I'm a little surprised the route that they are taking to haul away the debris. The large side-dump dumptrucks are taking Hennepin into downtown, then turning onto 3rd to get to the freeway. I saw a backed up line of alternating bus/dumptruck that was 2+ blocks long.

I'll be glad to see this projects 1st phase done. I'm hoping it will be a catalyst for more retail and redevelopment along 1st Ave there. Will be nice to see the holes filled in from the north split to the river there on 1st. Right now it is a hit and a lot of miss for those that walk thru that area. While you do have the Red Stag and other shops, you have a lot of empty areas or large parking lots that can be put to better use. Need more doors on the street along there.

This is probably still cleanup work, as there don't appear to be any building permits pulled for the property.

Also, Lennar is one of the largest builders in the country and have not (yet) built anything in Minneapolis proper. They have big projects underway near Southdale (6725 York - 270 units) and MOA (IndiGO - 420 units!). By all counts this Superior Plating project should be a smashing success, and it will almost certainly be the next new building to open in the area (there's like nothing under construction currently, right?) If things go well, I think we could reasonably expect that they'll do more projects in Minneapolis, should the market warrant

just a bit down the road, 700 Central Ave NE is under active construction as well...

I knew someone would mention that...I thought about including a disclaimer. I did say "new building" though ;)
Rents at 700 Central will be targeted a fair amount lower (maybe ~$2.00/sf vs. >$2.30/sf for Superior).

Besides that one though, there is nothing else under construction or imminent, right? Even though Superior will take a bit longer to build, I still think it will be complete before the Nye's site (which still isn't approved...yet)

Not quite the immediate area, but Restaurant Alma is/was planning on adding 6 rooms as a boutique hotel...that's about as close it gets.

Anyone else think the backside of The Pinnacle is ugly? Really noticed it in the above photo. That's all! :)

OHHHH yes! I go to school at Aveda and was thinking how horrid it was yesterday when I was walking to the 11.

It is all about the river front views. The big blank space is the elevator shaft. Due to the Falls the tower was pushed back as far as it could to get the most of the river front views.

It's so bad I would entertain the idea of fake windows, or just about anything to break up that 25-story blank wall.

What would our resident architects suggest?

It could be one hell of a mural.
