I'm actually a bit tired of the 'loft' look myself. They weren't tearing off drywall & concrete, they were taking off the original plaster finish.

The Brasserie Zentral Facebook page has a post about "what's next" with an email signup to be alerted to their next plans.

It's like when people used to put carpet over hardwood floors -- it was the style at the time, though nobody would do it now.

And yeah, I think that the loft style is going to look as dated as everything else eventually. Such is the nature of these things.

Not sure if this should be here or in the thread for the Commons or the Wells Fargo project or the Edition... This relates to so many of them.

"Dermot Cowley on Monday said he was preparing to sign a lease for 6,000 square feet on the first floor of the west tower. Cowley is the owner of O’Donovan’s Irish Pub in Minneapolis, Jake O’Connor’s Public House in Excelsior and Lola’s Lakehouse in Waconia.

Unlike O’Donovan’s and Jake O’Connor’s, the new downtown restaurant won’t have an Irish menu. Rather, it will be contemporary American cuisine."

I'm actually surprised this spot is going to a local owner. I would have thought it would go to a larger national chain, or maybe the Buffalo Wild Wings that we hear rumors about.

I haven't eaten at O'Donovan's But I have eaten at Jake O'Connor's, good food, good atmosphere. Should be a winner.

Found out what has been under construction in the Flour Exchange building. Kind of a weird idea.

There was an article about this in the Strib last week:

I don't get it. I really don't.

If it were to be a legitimate "truth bar", no Democrats would be allowed inside.

Comment section never fails

But really this might be the most pretentious gimmicky thing to hit downtown in a while.

I take it you haven't been in too many ad agency offices then. ;)

This is cool/stupid. It's the kind of thing that happens in real cities. Random dumb shit.

Do members have to buy the alcohol? Do they have a beer/wine/liquor license? It sounds like an ad agency trying to make money off of their employees if that's the case. If it isn't the case, it's basically just a cool place for employees to have meetings while drinking a beer.

Brut is opening in the old Sapor space in the North Loop. Pretty big deal chefs, too. It'll be nice to have that space active again!

The permits for the Brut build-out are starting appear on the city site, so this is finally underway.

Not too surprising, Foreign Legion is closing on April 16th
The replacement? Klein isn’t at liberty to reveal details. Rumors have been flying around the restaurant industry for weeks, however (and if they’re to be believed, it's an exciting development). We have calls in to key players. Stay tuned.

Same subject: http://mspmag.com/Blogs/Dara/April-2016 ... ion-Dunzo/

I generally loathe Dara's writing (and probably all pretentious food critic writing in general), but she pulled some pretty hot/snippy quotes out of the Kleins. Worth the read.
