Ugh, that article was even more confusing than the MSP Business Journal article. Looks like that's just a reprinted Supervalu press release, so they only focus on what Supervalu does. It sounds like Supervalu will 100% own two of the stores that are remaining Rainbow (though it doesn't say which two) and doesn't say anything about the others, so I'd assume from that that Lunds will own the other 4 outright?

There are three other buyers: "Jerry’s Enterprises, Haug Enterprises and Radermacher Enterprises," according to the MSP Business Journal article. So I took it as they were going to operate those Rainbow stores under the Rainbow name.

Well those three companies are apparently Cub franchisee's, so I'm not sure how much sense it makes in the long term for them to operate stores that directly compete with the mother company (Cub).

Ah, good catch. You're one step ahead of me.

Jerry's already owns a number of Cub franchises (Kowalski's does as well).

This article says the Walgreens from across the street will be filling to space. No word on what's replacing the Walgreens however.

Borton Volvo covers a couple blocks, so there should be additional room for development even with Walgreen's moving over. Will be interesting to see what develops.

The article makes it sound like Walgreens is going to occupy the existing building, so that leaves a lot of parking lots to build on.

Falls Liquor (SW corner of Minnehaha & 46th) might get replaced by a mixed-use development. The liquor store would return, as the owners of the store are behind the development. Interesting, because I thought that store had only been open a few years. I believe another project, possibly affordable, has already been approved for the NE corner, replacing Pink Closet and the two-story tan apartment building. Modernizing and urbanizing two corners of the intersection would be a pretty dramatic change for this LRT-adjacent area.

I wonder if they'll build when Minnehaha is all torn up over the next 2 years? It would certainly make sense to do so, given the headaches and business impacts that will be caused by the street reconstruction. They better get moving if they want to break ground in 2015.

Great. 46th Street has excellent potential to connect Highland Park, Minnehaha Ave, the up-and-coming 34th Ave district, and the LRT.

Does anybody know what's going on with the building (what's left of it) that Beeks Pizza was in? Drove by it this weekend and it is still standing boarded up. You would think it would at least have been torn down by now.

It is too bad this does not continue to the Borton Volvo block. This is where high density housing belongs. Another Walgreens is not needed. The present one is just fine.

I have considered just such a tour since my commute now includes the entirety of Lake St.
Of course, if I ate 15 tacos I'd probably be dead.

Anodyne Coffee Shop is closing (Nicollet & 43rd). Pretty sad news for Kingfield. That is/was one of the best intersections you can find. Streetcar-era buildings on all 4 corners. 43rd dead-ends at 35W two blocks away so virtually zero cross-traffic or turning movements. Lowbrow is awesome. I'd hate to see Anodyne be replaced by anything other than a new coffee shop.

Sad news! Any idea why?

Edit:
We are excited to announce that Bull Run Coffee Bar will be opening in this space a few weeks after we close.

I'm sure the two are related, but the owners who leave very nearby are also selling their house.
