That's great news! Any signs of signage on the site. I hope the design hasn't changed much from the renderings. I think this will be an awesome addition to the Minneapolis skyline! Post photos is soon as they start digging!

This is great news! This project is really the only true high rise project of all the apartment developments going up.It surpasses all the other projects in quality and design by a huge margin. It is unique and will become a landmark for the city.

Great news!! I can't remember the last time I was so excited to hear / read about a project breaking ground. It will be nice to see a project excede what has become the Minneapolis norm of sub par to mediocre architecture.

Nice, a Lull Telehandler. Looks like there is an attachment on it, but I cannot tell for sure given the perspective. IIRC, the anticipated start date was "late summer." Perhaps that will become a reality. In any event, I live close by and will enjoy watching this tower go up. I volunteer for taking as many pictures as possible :)

Is anyone willing to just go up to somebody working at the site and just ASK whether they are starting the groundbreaking for this tower? Seems like the easy short-term solution.

If this project was about to break ground, one would think at least one of our local news sources (Star Tribune, Finance & Commerce, TC Business Journal,etc...) would be all over it. Whatever the case, I'm hopeful construction will start soon.

I'm not too surprised. The Penfield finally started after being on the boards for seven years, yet I've only see one article online and that was from MinnPost.

This is a privately funded development thats faced a lot of nimbyism. I'm sure the developer wants a low profile until it gets well underway before it gets any publicity.

What do you mean? This hasn't faced "nimbyism" in years. The last 2 versions of this project were fully supported by the neighborhood and Lisa Goodman...don't think that is an issue.

As for whether construction is starting soon, It is encouraging that the barriers on site are have the name of the construction company that was awarded the contract...Adolfson & Peterson.

I wouldn't call it "fully" supported. Read some of the CLPC's meeting minutes. There were some threads on e-democracy as well that were quite negative towards this project too.

There was and is still a lot of consternation about the lack of parking. Just because organizations like the CLPC supported the project as a whole, there are still many in the area that disapprove of its height and size and parking issues.

I am hopeful that it this is the first sign of a groundbreaking, but I am going to wait until I see something announced before I get too excited. This is an exciting project, and I look forward to being able to see it rise from my rooftop patio!

For what it's worth, I've been checking on this every day for ages now, and Magellan has yet to pull any sort of building permit for this project. 222 had things pulled weeks in advance of construction beginning. That's not to say that I don't think something will happen here (it almost certainly will if AP is moving equipment onto the site), but it is a little odd.
