Probably about 60 unless there is some development that bring interest back to discussions. At this point we are rehashing old posts. Been a lot less talk since the 1st of the year.

90 pages would be pretty iconic... er wait, no, signature.

The merciless ruination of "iconic" in the past couple months has me sitting here, with an email open, trying to find the adjective to describe a word which is an adjective. "How would you describe its iconic-ness? iconicability? iconicity?" Crazy world we live in.

EDIT: My attorney has informed me that "iconic-ness" et al. would, in fact, not be adjectives. I apologize for the oversight.

Love this, the views would be spectacular. Since it is mostly residential I wonder if there would be an observation deck. I loved going to the top of the IDS and on a clear day you could see St. Olaf College.

I saw this and was glad to see some more positive press.

The bumpkins don't seem to like tall towers but this thing would really add something to the skyline. I hope they pick this proposal. Being primarily residential this should be a slam dunk. Duval states he has the team assembled and ready for action.

I can see that if this gets the nod and it ends up on the upper end of the market for price to live there, that we see a few louder voices raising the issue of needing middle income housing downtown.

I'm in no way stating that THIS project needs to fill any of that need though some lower end of the market rate would be a plus, I just have a feeling this ends up filling the upper bracket.

At some point if enough luxury or mid luxury or whatever comes on the market, a place like the Churchill will lower their prices.

Is the Churchill all that expensive now? One of my coworkers lives there and neither of us are particularly rolling in the dough.

Minneapolis has a decent amount of affordable housing for the middle class-earning group of people. It's just a bit aged since we seemingly missed a 2000s boom in construction anywhere near the core.

Churchill starts at $1225 for 1BR and $1750 for 2BR...

Damn, that's expensive enough. I've got a 3 bedroom house, 2 bathrooms, an 1100 sq ft garage and 1350 sf unfinished walkout basement for the price of the 1BR, and a tax write off.

Churchill doesn't seem that much more expensive than new construction, but I think the units are smaller and they don't have nearly the amenities. They don't have an amazing location either, I don't know how they get away with it.

Ah, trickle-down economics. If we let the market serve the rich, it will also, as a consequence help the poor and the middle class. Sometimes that works.

He sounds like a bit of a dreamer, but I am guessing there are a fair amount of us who fall into that category on this website. Sometimes, dreamers win and in this case I can't say I would be disappointed.

This illustration gives you a real sense of how narrow/slim the tower actually would be.... I would have guessed that there would be 25 floors of office...

Why not go underground? If you're building the new tallest, is it really that much more in the budget?

Or is there some geological issue there?
