Apparently people hate Don Samuels? I'd say he's getting the most press related to how the sausage is made, at least.

I was not so enthralled with Don Samuels when he was a CM or during his Mayoral run. I don't know much about Rebecca Gagnon and even less about the other two.

Just wondering if anyone has a pitch for any of the candidates?

If you're listening to DFL/teacher's union insiders, then yes, you hate Don Samuels. I tend to think that the school board has performed so poorly over recent history that Gagnon should not be returned, and supported Samuels and Iris Altamirano.

Samuel's is apparently getting piles of money from pro charter school groups as well? I kind of feel guilty every time I cast a vote for school board, since I don't have any kids I don't really educate myself as well as I would if I had kids in school.

On the other hand if you listen to those that are supported by the millions of dollars poring in from out of state then you might hate Gagnon.

I haven't been impressed by the school board either, but the charter school frenzy is much too disingenuous. There is little evidence that charters do any better than public schools.

I'm not pro-charter, but I tend to think having at least one voice on the school board who will question the status quo will be beneficial.

As an aside, I'm not sure where all of this money is being spent, because aside from a couple of mailers, I haven't seen anything and it certainly hasn't influenced my thinking on the current state of Minneapolis schools.

It also looks like an attempt by some in the MPD to smear the reputation of the Mayor and Harteau.

Yeah, I got that sense as well.

Not at all because of this, but I'm starting to think that Harteau's effectiveness is at this point damaged beyond repair and she should probably go.

David Brauer found another link... the guy in the photo with Hodges filed an excessive force complaint against MPD.

Looks like someone in MPD is retaliating. They need to be held accountable as much, if not more, than some idiot reporter.

Damn, read Jay Kolls' tweets. The man has truly gone off the deep end. I mean, I know he's KSTP's hit man, but *damn!*

The local news is keeping it real classy, as always.

I actually heard about this from someone who lives in New York even before I came here and read this thread, so they may be getting some broader backlash.

Jay Kolls is cut from the same cloth as Michele Bachmann and Joe Soucherey.

This is like Fox News level bad. I'm not even outraged yet because I'm still shocked this isn't satire.

Can someone please alert Colbert and the Daily Show? I'm guessing they're on this, but just in case, can someone pretty please tip them off?
