I wonder if Metro Transit will be doing anything for the Blue Line/Hiawatha Line's 20th birthday this June. I would hope they'll at least do more than just post something on social media. Maybe have a combined celebration with the Green Line's 10th birthday since the dates are pretty close (6/26/04 for the Blue Line/Hiawatha Line and 6/14/14 for the Green Line).
Yes it’s happening on June 18th, check out the event tabs on Facebook!

Since there's plans to eventually build an automated people mover between MSP Airport's two terminals, how much impact would this have on the Blue Line's ridership? Though by the time that opens maybe there won't be concern with the Blue Line's ridership.

I have no actual data to back this up (so prove me wrong if you have it), but I can’t imagine it will have all that big of an impact. Right now, the main use case is a layover where you need to switch between a big three airline and a low cost carrier. I can think of some trips where that might happen, but I’m guessing it doesn’t meaningfully add to Blue Line ridership.

Of course, the fact they want to build the people mover means they think people will take it. But it seems like it has more to do with a future expansion of terminal two than any current demand.

I didn't really know where to put this, but since it technically pertains to the Blue Line, here it is:

I've been noticing on the Siemens LRVs that the destination signs above the cabs facing each other are inconsistent in what they display. Sometimes they just have the route color, and sometimes it displays the destination like the outer facing signs do. (I even saw one with the Airport Shuttle headsign a couple weeks ago... oops) I'm curious, how are these signs programmed to say these? Do they have to be manually set and the variations I noticed are at the discretion of the operator?

Another thing I've noticed is that the interior signs on the type III LRVs flash when the information changes sometimes - these are just preprogrammed to do that for some reason, right?

We basically have a little computer to set the destination signs. On the Type 1s we put in a code, and on the Type 2/3s we scroll through options and select the one we want. We can even set the destination sign to "Express", so if we ever decide to do express service on our light rail lines at least the signs will be ready for it! The infrastructure... not so much.

As far as I know yes, that's preprogrammed on the Type 3s.
