Dinkytown
Re: Dinkytown
Didn't the Refinery formerly take up two storefronts, and now it only has one? I thought that was the case. I went there once for a massage and had to go through like five different sections to get to the massage area.
Also, the new athletics complex is getting bigger and bigger, which combined with the other new apartment buildings is really making Dinkytown look bigger and taller (at least from the vantage point of University Avenue).

The opposite with the Refinery I believe, there used to be a thrift shop next to them and they expanded into that space.

Re: Dinkytown
Noticed on my walk tonight that there was a big hole in the ground where a house used to be. Did some research, found out the house was only 25 years old, but is being replaced by a 4 unit building. I'm guessing it's going to be similar to the turkey guys on Lyndale, but it's a deep site. Could just be a tall 2 story.

Re: Dinkytown
Another one of "The Lodges" perhaps?
Re: Dinkytown
Important follow up: In my experience the Minnesota locations have "Cafe and Bakery" signs, but "always fresh" signage behind the counters. So what is it?Note that in Canada the logo says "Tim Hortons Always Fresh - Toujours Frais" but in the US it's "Tim Hortons Café and Bakery" on the logo. That's not an accident.
Re: Dinkytown
Yes, I noticed that too. It seems our franchisee is using a bit of both the US and Canada marketing and design, which I suppose makes sense since their team has people from Canadian corporate Tim Hortons on it.

The last retail space in the Marshall Haas has been leased. There's a permit for build out in the space between Target and Jersey Mikes

Re: Dinkytown
In case that sign wasn't obvious, the Target Express in Dinkytown has a CVS for their pharmacy, just like they all do now since Target sold their pharmacies for $4bn to CVS.
Re: Dinkytown
I wonder if Walgreens will stick another Corner W in that space? I can't blame CVS for not wanting to maintain two fill-on pharmacies two blocks apart, but if Stadium Village can support a Corner W and a CVS, Dinkytown should be able to too. Or maybe the pull of Target is just too strong.

Re: Dinkytown
Six retail spaces currently under construction:
The Cove
Num-mi (still, almost done)
Kung Fu Tea
Burrigato (sushi burrito fad)
Former Wally's (unknown tenant)
Removed Refinery space from list. It's going to be the leasing center for The Hub in Stadium Village.

Re: Dinkytown
Too bad on that CVS. Such a perfect location between campus and Dinkytown residential/entertainment. Shame there aren't more than two pharmacy chains operating in the Twin Cities market (just CVS & Walgreens), and Walgreens seems unlikely to jump in here (not to mention CVS possibly controls the lease for a while longer and could block that)
Silver lining - this would be an obvious spot for an actual grocery store in the area (which Target Express is not). Actually, I can't even think of what would be a better spot for a grocery store in the area than this.

Re: Dinkytown
If you live or work in the area, not a bad idea to get ahead of the ball and send some emails to the property owner and whoever does the commercial leasing. Maybe even send one to Aldi too.

So that's the old Refinery space, right?
