I'll give it a 7 right now. That could go up as they get the ground level finished and some landscaping done around it. But is does fit in quite well, compliments as they say, those buildings around it. Word on when the skyway opens again to the Hawthorne Garage?

I think it's looking good and fits right in.

Agreed it doesn't look bad with this picture. Haven't seen it in real life but seems to fit in quite well. What's up with those slanted panels on top though? Kind of unflattering.

That's to make the corner pop, but cleary it looks more weird than pop. I'm sure there's signage planned for the top panel of the corner chamfer, but hopefuly it's designed in a way that makes this look un-weird.

I know it's more of an optical illusion but instead of making the corner seem to rise up, instead it makes it looks like it's squashing the corner down.

Looks good and fits in perfectly here. Yet the similar design for the AC at 4th and Hennepin falls short. Interesting how that happens...

Yeah , I realize that. Should have a stronger and higher quality approach at 4th and Hennepin given the surrounding buildings and prominent site, at least for the character of exterior.

I was assured by Frey that the design for the Hennepin AC hotel is being addressed with Mortensen. This site is too important!!!

At this point I'm basically spamming these boards with this comment but here goes, "The developer matters."

Anyone have inside scoop on when this skyway might reopen?

Walked by this site today and am very disappointed with it up close. This is truly a one dimensional building. As flat as they get and it shows in Spades. If the street level is as bad as the upper part then the city needs to step in at the AC Marriot site with some damage control before they get it locked in.

This thing looks like a flat rendering but in real life. It's odd.

Nice find! The buildings do share some visual similarities - it's probably coincidental, but it explains why the Hampton settles into the corner nicely despite being a structure that would be pretty ugly in most other locations.

Not coincidental.

The skyway will reopen in mid-April, according to ads that are in the skyway level of the CenturyLink building.
