Those are some fun comparisons to see trends in there.

Nowhere grew like Minneapolis in raw totals. Though Lakeville had a boom.

Looks like Minneapolis added mostly single person households.

Met Council's 2023 population & household estimates are out: https://metrocouncil.org/Data-and-Maps/ ... mates.aspx

City | 2020 Census | 2023 Est. (change)
Minneapolis 429,956 433,633 (3,677)
St. Paul 311,527 310,997 (-530)
Bloomington 89,987 91,537 (1,550)
Brooklyn Park 86,478 83,874 (-2,604)
Plymouth 81,026 80,546 (-480)
Woodbury 75,102 78,740 (3,638)
Lakeville 69,490 75,217 (5,727)
Blaine 70,222 73,546 (3,324)
Maple Grove 70,253 71,676 (1,423)
Eagan 68,855 69,299 (444)

While a few of the metro's 10 largest cities saw a population drop since the 2020 Census, among those listed here only Brooklyn Park also shows a drop in the number of households (-342, by far the largest in the metro). The estimated number of households is not all housing units, it is occupied housing units. Target North campus emptying out is a likely factor in apartment vacancy. The larger population drop in BP could also be influenced by falling household sizes (happening everywhere, but it's possible that average household size in BP previously trended larger due to demographics).

For comparison's sake, here are the 2019/2018 estimates from upthread. Of course, the 2020 Census was conducted during the 1st month of the pandemic, impacting central city populations as many college kids went home. When viewed alongside Bloomington and Plymouth’s numbers, it does seem like Brooklyn Park's 2020 Census figure was maybe an over-count.
Populations of the 5 largest cities 2019 (2018):
Minneapolis 435,885 (429,382)
St. Paul 315,925 (313,010)
Bloomington 90,271 (89,654)
Brooklyn Park 82,444 (81,679)
Plymouth 79,475 (78,351)
