The difference between MN and WI is interesting. There's been some interesting comparison between the states as they have diverged over the past decade or two.

Wow! Minnesota beat California to make the final four in Geography King’s March Madness. Big, for those who follow.

I reacted really strongly to the idea that California, as a coastal state, inherently has better coastline and beaches. lol

To close the loop on this, we swept past Hawaii in the final four to set up an anticipated championship showdown with Colorado, which swept North Carolina in the other semi. As expected it was an exciting, back-and-forth final.

Here’s how it played out:

Game 1: Lowest Crime Rate - MN
Game 2: Best Fall Weather - CO
Game 3: Best Signature Food - CO
Game 4: Most Crop Production (non-grain) - MN
Game 5: Biggest Company Based There - MN
Game 6: Lowest Cancer Rate - CO
Game 7: Best Fishing - MN

It was a good run for Minnesota, which as the 24 seed (based on population) got past a worthy contingent of states including New Mexico, Georgia, Cinderella Alaska and then top-seeded California to reach the final weekend.

Yeah!

That "Best Fishing" category sure was a lucky draw in Game 7. Somebody better check to see if somebody froze the envelope before the "random" draw :)

Getting a lot of suspicious looks and questions when I say I'm from Minneapolis in CA these days.

2021 ParkScore index results will be released May 27th. Hoping Minneapolis wins this again despite the unfair mapping of the parks.

Maybe it is time to start calling more roads parks?

Minneapolis should hire whoever was able to qualify all those roads as parks. Or at the very least try get the lakes counted as parks.

Did they ever catch the dude who damaged the memorial? Stopped and ripped it apart with bare hands then took an axe to it?

Yes - use to say that with so much pride, but now mixed with feelings of shame, etc.

That’s legit. It’s a tough time in MN. I believe we will get through it and be alright, but that doesn’t detract from the current difficulties.

I think that this is something that all areas of the country are going to grapple with at some point. The fact that there was a conviction gives some semblance that accountability can be found. Granted the area has had several high profile incidents and one that was insanely egregious.
