It appears that she talked to most of the CMs. I'm not saying that it means the story is wholly accurate, but if nobody else was forthcoming with an alternate hisotry...

What's up with Alondra Cano mentioning Bon Iver in every other tweet?

MinnPost has a piece on getting to know the new councilmembers. I daresay it's mostly information people paying attention to city politics already know, but interesting to see it all gathered in one place.

Some of the quotes do strike me as populist to the point of being unrealistic, but that's politics for ya...

Board elections for the Whittier and Lowry Hill East (Wedge) neighborhoods are coming up very soon.

Whittier is tomorrow night, Thursday March 27 at Whittier Elementary, 5:30 to 8:15pm. You need not stay for the entire thing if you can't, but please arrive before 6 in time to get registered and vote for board members.

Word on the street is that our good friend Basim Sabri is going to try to stack the board at Whittier, where he's had a long-running feud, with his stooges. If you live in the neighborhood, please consider showing up and voting. You'll need to bring ID or other documentation proving that you live in the neighborhood.

Thanks MNdible.

Candidate profiles are available here: http://whittieralliance.org/wp/wp-conte ... 032614.pdf

A little birdie told me you used to be on the board back in the day (even though I still have no idea who you are).

Zach Metoyer is definitely a Sabri stooge and should be avoided.
I have it on good authority that Abdirahman Abdulle is not a Sabri guy.
I'm not sure about the rest, except #3, because that's me.

Karen Boros' City Hall coverage is consistently top notch. I'm becoming a big fan of hers.
Once the Cityscape column went downhill (Marlys Harris), Boros' writing is one of the big reasons I still give MinnPost $5/month.

This was clever/cute: http://www.bluestemprairie.com/bluestem ... onent.html (Hodges did the ALS ice bucket challenge in a parody of Jeff Wagner's viral campaign ad)

Also, Bluestem is a great blog covering outstate politics and goings on of the MN Legislature

FYI: After you opined (privately) that it wasn't getting enough views/comments, I added "Minneapolis" to the title. I hope you're ok with that.

Of lesser note, I changed "LHENA" to "Lowry Hill East" in one of the paragraphs towards the end.

Tangent: I think we (everyone) conflate the names of neighborhoods and neighborhood organizations far too often. The only neighborhood this should be done for is CARAG, as the neighborhood doesn't have a proper name, other than CARAG. No one calls it "Calhoun Area", because that's weird. Plus if we start calling The Wedge "LHENA", we're giving that neighborhood a third(!) name, after Lowry Hill East and The Wedge. I have suggested to their board on several occasions to just do everyone a favor and officially rename the neighborhood "The Wedge", ending the Lowry Hill East / LHENA nonsense forever.
