I remeber that hallway very well. There was travel agent office I worked with where I bought a plane ticket for a trip to Hawaii in 1987.As far as I can determine, I took this photo in the hallway through the JC Penny / Syndicate building (now demolished). I don't think this section was in the Soo Line area, but I could be wrong of course. The sign indicates the Thorpe Building (demolished for a parking ramp), the F&M Savings Bank (Westin Minneapolis), and the National City Bank Building (510 Marquette).
I stopped and took this photo because I thought this section of skyway looked like a hallway in the Death Star.

Nicollet Mall with all the trees and people. I was standing on the roof of the old parking ramp where Excel Energy HQ is now.

The billboard is about 30 years to early!I stood on the newly completed lawn of Lincoln Center (now 333 S Seventh St) in 1987 for this view of construction of 150 S 5th St. This view is not possible now due to the presence of the Capella tower now on the site of the parking lot straight ahead.
