Apparently the Midway YMCA has been razed (good riddance) -- and a new structure will be rising in its place. The rendering looks pretty nice. I went in the old one once about 10 years ago and realized just how "hit-and-miss" YMCA facilities can be -- it was literally crumbling, and the fitness center was in a low-ceilinged basement. Good news for the area!

I got a flyer in the mail this evening saying the new building will open in January.

I keep thinking "Midtown" when I read "Midway" so it came as quite a shock to read that the YWCA across from my house has been torn down.

Gotta remember which subforum I'm in...

This is now open, though they are finishing up some details. The grand opening is planned for February 10th.

Nice article about the new YMCA.

I was surprised that it had roughly the same square footage as the old building.
