Well, it looks like we’re going Full North.

Just got an email about an event tomorrow announcing a new Minnesota winter festival called The Great Northern.

Dayton and Hodges will announce it tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 1) at the Bachelor Farmer. It’s apparently going to be a week-long festival that takes place in late January/early February.

No other news on what it will actually entail, but there are some hints based on who will be in attendance: Hodges, Dayton, commissioner from the US Pond Hockey association, rep from Saint Paul Winter Carnival, Loppet Foundation, Andrew Zimmern and Eric Dayton.

Let’s hope this can outshine Holidazzle.

No info yet on the location. I assume kind of spread out since it's involving both Minneapolis and St. Paul. They're pretty mum on details so far though.

I'm guessing it's mostly a combined branding thing to lure tourists. It looks like most of our big winter events are all taking place around the same time this year, the Loppet, St. Paul Winter Carnival, Crashed Ice. It's a great idea.

A bit more info: http://www.twincities.com/2016/12/01/mi ... -northern/

And they have a website, but there's nothing there yet. Kind've a bland design, IMO: https://www.thegreatnorthernfestival.com/
