The Minneapolis PD and Metro Transit Police are sharing that space in City Center as a police substation. No transit center.

It's too bad we couldn't do something like these: http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2013/11 ... lters.html Although, one of the bus shelter advertisements in the article appears to be at 5th and Washington, I'd prefer the more creative shelters...

Wicked! Most would settle for heaters like this, though:

Not to do a blow by blow of bus rides, but people are complaining about their waits- Some girl just came out and told me how happy she was to be moving South ...

Wow, this was already 14 months ago when MTPD tasered that guy: http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2012/10/2 ... -arrested/

On Urban MSP, we have preferred that users not say things like "does anyone have any new photos or updates?", but in this case, could someone please take some photos of the bus stop for us? Thanks! I'd love to know if the green striping and signage is still in place and if it's being maintained and enforced.

Also, I believe that Metro Transit also changed the 19 to skip the stop at Nicollet Mall last fall.

I'll take one from the skyway tomorrow.

Mass confusion at the 7th St bus stop at Nicollet this morning as Minneapolis implemented its plan to punish bus riders for using this stop too much. The driver reminded those of us already on the 5 that the 19 now stops on the other side of Nicollet, then repeated the same news to just about everyone who boarded after they asked where the 19 was. Metro Transit also had someone posted at the stop to explain this baffling, punitive decision.

In other news, Target has outgrown its Nicollet Mall store so it is moving electronics, housewares, and part of boy's clothing across Nicollet Mall into a store that will be identical in appearance.

Can we fix this single bus stop before we claim that SWLRT will fix transit for the North Side?

Wait, what? Is this for real? Do you have a link?

My god, tell me you're not serious...
It was a joke.

Obviously. A real proposal would include a bright red skyway.

Feel free to use this photo for any mock-ups with an exclusive bus lane and cycletrack, like this:

Just what the hell is the City's and Metro Transit's current 2015 position on this stop (and the related East-West transit spine that never came to fore)??

I mean, obviously. Too bad Minneapolis Public Works already said an E-W dedicated transit lane would disrupt traffic too much. Plus parking.

But for real, the 5, 7, 22, & 94 (off top of my head) use 7th. So many buses carrying so many people. This would be huge.

I really wish the city would focus on making the east-west streets and sidewalks more pedestrian and transit user friendly. Nicer transit stops, better streescapes, etc.

But then they'd have to take space away from the poor drivers who wouldn't have a huge speedy one way feeder straight to the highway!

It's really depressing how most of the downtown grid is currently designed primarily to funnel cars to and from highway ramps with little regard to anyone else who might be using the streets.

Any news on how long it'll be before they start blaring opera music at this corner because they hate bus riders and want them to go away?

A little searching (which I don't have time at the moment to replicate) will lead you to documents that are currently out for bid to reconstruct the bus stops at 7th-Hennepin and 7th-Nicollet. Tip: it appears to include expanding the sidewalk.

So is the other one they mention 7th St N and Hennepin... is that the one on 7th next to Mayo Clinic Square or the one on Hennepin next to the empty Chevy's?

I think it would be stop next to MC2, since the shelters the mention seem to be aBRT-style shelters, and the MC2 stop would be part of the C Line.
