Red 20 - 20 6th Street NE
Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)
I haven't seen it in person, but I'd wager that this material is actually what's known as "cast stone", which is a higher end concrete product with specially selected aggregate and coloration to imitate real stone.

Having seen it, I'll agree with Nathan that with the other grey that they used in the building that the grey mortar would have been a better look that the reddish tan that does not really compliment the red of the building. The grey mortar would have been a better contrast than the tan.

I was also thinking it may be cast concrete stone. Looks very similar to what was used on the base of 222 Hennepin, The Vue, and other recent apartment projects.I haven't seen it in person, but I'd wager that this material is actually what's known as "cast stone", which is a higher end concrete product with specially selected aggregate and coloration to imitate real stone.

I have seen it, though I didn't look close...
The only reason I assume that it's real Indiana is because they are using a colored mortar for some reason, if they just wanted a warmer color base on the building they would have just used a different color cast concrete, for the same price, whereas if they wanted to use real stone on the building, Indiana is the cheapest and it only comes in it's one color, grey.

Methinks this will look better with the balconies.

I walked by this weekend. That alley like space between the new and old buildings would be a great spot for a sidewalk cafe.

I honestly really like how this building is turning out. It will add quite a few new residents at the far edge of the neighborhood and extend the blossoming retail presence in the area. Does anyone know when the first residents will be moving in?

It's too bad the first level window awnings are not going to be the same blue color as is currently present above the windows, by strangely I think that would add a nice touch
Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)
Refreshing straightforward appearance. The red is nice and the street level is particularly good. It doesn't try to be so overdone like the Penfield or Walkway with too many things going on with the exterior facade. Curious what retail will lease on the ground floor. Hope its not all chains.

They were putting on the balconies for this today, still looks really good
Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)
I think the balconies will give it a much better look than it has now.
Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)
Walking by today I'd say that most of the balconies are up and hanging except for those on the second level and those above the main entrance box.I think the balconies will give it a much better look than it has now.

I may have missed them as I went by on the bus this morning, but the First Ave side didn't seem to have any/many up. Couldn't see the higher levels, but definitely the lower levels were lacking them.

Infusion Grille and Cocktail House will be the new restaurant. The "celebrity designer" aspect of this doesn't give me high hopes about the food but I'm interested in what other parties may be involved.

Seems like an interesting concept. But I'm mostly excited to have some more restaurant space pulled further north along Central.

Got my new camera today so it was time to test it out! Bought it right by Red 20 so I took the opportunity

It's fine! I was just playing around with it today and I love it so far. Did you see my Aveda shots?
