The Hub Minneapolis - 600 Washington Ave SE (284' - 26 Stories)
Re: Stadium Village Tower - 600 Washington Ave SE (284' - 26 Stories)
Glad to hear they are starting though I think they still need to get permission to demolish the buildings from the HPC.

I doubt that, normally if HPC permission is required for something, they get that before Planning Commission approval of the project. They've had Planning Commission approval for quite a while. It would also be quite silly to empty out the buildings if they weren't sure they'd be able to tear them down.
Re: Stadium Village Tower - 600 Washington Ave SE (284' - 26 Stories)
That's what I thought as well but there is a wrecking review application submitted on September 6 shown for these properties on the cities current applications map. That is not to say they will have problems getting the permit.

Right you are, BZH 29339 and 29340. I really wish the HPC would post their agendas more than 24 hours in advance. Is this being discussed at the meeting on the 25th? Who knows!

Aren't permits headed to HPC included in the weekly Planning Applications Report?

Yeah, but all the information you get there is that the permit was pulled. There's a building near me that got a Historic permit on Aug 2 and isn't going to HPC until October 25th. And that meeting still doesn't have an agenda posted, thankfully the neighborhood is aware of when the hearing is.

I can't wait to see how this one turns out. Should be a nice, glassy contrast to Moos -- and those storefronts are gross.

Just to clarify, we are talking about two different application types here:Yeah, but all the information you get there is that the permit was pulled. There's a building near me that got a Historic permit on Aug 2 and isn't going to HPC until October 25th. And that meeting still doesn't have an agenda posted, thankfully the neighborhood is aware of when the hearing is.
A wrecking review is an administrative application that is made before any principal structure in the city can be demolished. Staff researches the property to determine whether it appears to meet any of the designation criteria in the preservation ordinance. If it does not, the demolition can proceed. If it does, a demolition of historic resource application needs to be submitted. Wrecking reviews are included in the planning applications report, but there is no additional formal notice.
Demolition of historic resource applications are only required for structures that may meet at least one of the City's criteria for designation. Decisions on these applications are made by the HPC following a public hearing. Notice is provided to the relevant neighborhood group 21 days in advance of the hearing, and property owners within 350' of the site 10 days in advance of the hearing.

If you saw the guy eating Chipotle on the Moo's lawn, it was me.
It's so amusing watching people walk by the demo just in awe. So fun to watch. Can't wait to see it all gone by Friday

Atlas Foundation truck on site today. Hopeful sign that they'll be moving right along into the foundation work after demo. The site is almost cleared now. Just one little part of a building left and rubble being moved.
