Ugh. There aren't any numbers on the retail bags yet.

Doors were open again on the Marquette side. Since the Starbucks is the only open permit for the building, I'm assuming it's going in there. So it's either going to be a giant Starbucks (which would be kind of cool) or they finally subdivided the space.

How big of a space is it? I haven't been by there recently enough to remember.
Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
Considering the insanity which is the city center starbucks and the fact that all their downtown locations are tiny, I could see that. Especially if they're planning to open an evening store. Had anyone seen a beer and wine type license pulled for the same address?

Starbucks plans to open more shops in the Twin Cities

GIST:
The Seattle coffee chain has signed a lease for Nic on 5th, the 26-story luxury apartment tower The Opus Group developed in 2014 on Nicollet Mall and Fifth Avenue.
The 2,500-square-foot shop will likely open this spring. Starbucks has been adding alcohol to some of its big-city shops in recent years, but this one won’t have it.
Starbucks already has pulled a remodeling permit for its downtown Minneapolis shop and has begun construction, according to the city’s property website.
The space is on the side of the Nic on 5th building facing Marquette Avenue and is in front of a light rail stop.

Anyone live here or know someone who lives here?
If so, how do you/they like it?

Open until 9!
Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
Though, they took up such a tiny space at the corner...making the retail space in from the corner more undesirable. I thought they'd use more of that! Glad to see it though.
Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
Maybe it'll become more attractive once there's an adjacent active LRT platform?

Nice, maybe this will be what I was hoping for with City Works.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Those places with dozens of taps creep me out. When was the last time the keg was changed, the taps cleaned, or even a single beer poured on the 78th most popular variety? <shudder>

As someone that has lived in West Michigan, this is incredibly exciting.HopCat has leased the space along Nicollet Mall.

As to the tap (and line) cleaning, probably more frequently than a place that's only got three lights and a regular. Those places with dozens of taps creep me out. When was the last time the keg was changed, the taps cleaned, or even a single beer poured on the 78th most popular variety? <shudder>
I don't know, but it sure feels like places like this take their beer seriously and take care of those things.

With a beer-geek crowd, the 78th most popular might still sell a quarter or third as much as the most popular. We like our variety! Those places with dozens of taps creep me out. Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I worked at Old Chicago downtown (when it existed) and there was a person who came in once a week and cleaned ALL of the lines (and they had dozens). Those places with dozens of taps creep me out. When was the last time the keg was changed, the taps cleaned, or even a single beer poured on the 78th most popular variety? <shudder>
As for the keg change, if you can't detect flat/old beer then it's probably not a problem for you - you are drinking bad beer and/or have a terrible palette. If a customer had a complaint about flat/bad beer, the bartender would test it and see if it needed to be changed out and if the bartender/manager/owner disagreed that the keg was bad (and didn't want to to throw it away), I'm sure they would offer another beer free of charge.
As for the 78th least popular beer...the kegs are pressurized and if you are drinking the 78th least popular beer it might be time to examine your life - either you are a hipster of the variety that seeks out the 78th least popular selection OR, you are drinking terrible beer.
Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
Does the alcohol content of the beer have any serious disinfecting properties or no?
Anyways it looks like this will be in direct competition with City Works just a few blocks north.
