Re: House of Hanson Site (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE)

It does feel like that. For example, the Book House found somewhere to relocate to, despite their earlier claims that it would be totally impossible to do so.

Re: Vikings Stadium

Huh. Looks like, with all the students studying for finals or whatever in this building, I can't get the stream to work. I'll have to depend on you guys for updates.

Could downtown really support two Targets? This isn't that far from the current downtown target.

Re: 301 Walnut (Sally's Building)

I'm feeling like this is just NIMBYism on Juno's part. I'm not qualified to comment on snow loads, but what Tom said above is true, even if the buildings were adjacent for all three floors. However, they aren't. The new building is going to have a setback above the first floor. It seems to me, at le...

Re: IDS Center

^That. My biggest gripe with the nightlighting on the skyline is that it mostly shuts down at midnight. I understand that it's for energy efficiency, but I really wish they would stay on until bar close, at least on weekends.

With which part? The most people in Minnesota not knowing what a bike lane is, or the part where it's a preposterous idea to not let cars park in traffic lanes?

Here you go. I think this will be the best looking of the three new buildings on Washington, though I think the Sally's building will be better still.

Re: Amundson Hall Addition

They've been driving foundation piles all this week. I hope they stop for finals, since I have a couple in the rooms immediately adjacent in Keller. WP_20130425_003.jpg Also, I hadn't realized the addition would go this close to the Keller wall. Since the upper floors of Keller have a hallway on the...

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

I was just about to comment on those lines. When the IDS Tower went up, it was nearly twice as tall as the Foshay Tower. So these new buildings would have to be at least Willis Tower scale...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

^This. I'd prefer if parking was integrated into other buildings, but I don't really mind parking structures, as long as they take at least a bit of effort to dress them up a bit, instead of leaving them bare concrete. Better than surface parking, to be sure.

That's good to hear. If Southeast Library is left standing, maybe the Rarig Center can be torn down sometime in the future. If we're lucky.

Re: Southeast Library - (1222 4th Street Southeast)

This factsheet is a month old, but make it seem like they'd prefer to renovate rather than relocate. I would as well. I think there should be one Rapson building in the campus area that's good at what it's used for.

Is this lot zoned for up to nine stories, or is it coincidence that both this and the venue were planned for the same height?

There was an excavator sitting on this lot yesterday, getting buried in snow. I guess it could be being staged for the Knoll, but I think they're getting ready to start digging.

Re: Vikings Stadium

Because lord knows it's more important to design a building to "intimidate" visiting teams 16 times a year than it is to design it so the people who actually live in Minneapolis can stand to look at it.

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)

According to Wikipedia, the 492 ft Target Plaza South was completed in 2001. If you're going to be strict about the 500 ft limit, the Cappella Tower (775 ft) was finished in 1992. It has been a long time. Of course, the recession hurt that, since I believe the Nicollet would have been at least 500 f...
